Dr. Sam Stokes III, MD

He didn't come in to the Er.I had 2.2cm and1.7 kidney Stones.He didn't come in and I didn't even get touched by a dr. In Carbondale!They Suck!

Dr. Stokes has been my Urologist for about 8 or10 years. He is excellent at communicating with me. I always feel secure in my understanding of the issue and treatment. I say he is comprehensive because, rather than focusing narrowly on just the presenting urological issue, he looks at the whole person and how other issues affect the urological problem.

Clueless and uncaring office staff. Dr. Stokes does not provide adequate information to the families of elderly patients. Will not return phone calls. Choose ANY other doctor. Ratings do not even deserve 1 star!

Very good communication skills. Takes time to explain in detail. He even drew a picture. Made my 84 year old mother very comfortable about surgery!

THE OFFICE SCHEDULE IS OVERBOOKED RESULTING IN LONG WAIT TIMES. WHENEVER CALLING THE OFFICE, YOU NORMALLY GET A VOICE MAIL WHICH IN SOME CASES IS NOT RETURNED WITHIN 24 HOURS. IT'S VERY RARE THAT YOU GET TO TALK TO A REAL LIVE PERSON. THE WAIT TIME FROM WHEN YOU GET IN THE EXAM ROOM AND WHEN YOU SEE THE DOCTOR IS EXCESSIVE AND UNCOMFORTABLE.

My overall experience with this doctor and his staff was poor. An initial diagnosis was completely wrong. He promised to set up referral appointments with 2 other doctors and call me. After 2 weeks I call and find nothing has been done. His office promises to forward test results to another surgeon. After a 2 hour drive to discuss these test results with the surgeon, I find they were never sent. His office is frequently closed and it takes an average of 5 calls to get to speak to a real person. When you're diagnosed with cancer, you want everything to go as smoothly as possible. That certainly didn't happen in my case.

Seesm like a few other doctors in the area. They only care about making a Quick buck...as many patients as possible to maximize profit. Very little time spent with me.

My overall experience was poor at best. I waited over an hour after which I was told that the Dr. wouldn't be in to see me. The support staff had poor communication. Consideration of a patience was non-existent during my visit. I will drive 4 hours rather than return to this office 30 minutes from my house.

I waited 3 months for my first appointment. I arrived prior and was told the doctor wasn't in and could not tell me when he would be in, I was really upset because they did not call and tell me, I had driven 60 miles one way. Hopefully I won't have to see this doctor.

Office staff does not seem to know what is going on. I would call to find out my test results and the office staff seemed clueless. Every time I called I would speak with a different office person and they would not know what I was talking about. It took over 1 week to get my test results and another week to get an appt with the doctor only to find out that I needed to be referred to St. Louis. I could have been on my way to St. Louis 2 weeks earlier. The office is also closed frequently causing further delay in a patient's care.
