Dr. Samer Narouze, MD, PhD

Dr Narouze is inept, condescending, and a liar. Some members of his staff are childish and unprofessional. After only my second visit, Dr Narouze failed to refill my morphine prescription, so I was forced into opiate withdrawal while coping with severe, unmedicated pain for an entire weekend. "I set it up so he only had to press a button," a nurse told me. How's that for ineptitude? At my initial consult, Narouze told my husband and I that if I wanted to keep using cannabis for breakthrough pain, "I don't want to know about it." Two months later, I got a letter scolding me for having THC in my system. Huh? Why did he test for it, if he didn't want to know I was using it? The letter went on, threatening to discharge me from the practice for not following the contract I signed at the first visit. Since they never gave me a copy of that contract, I can only assume they intended me to memorize it while I was signing.

Does not take the time to look over your records, very Arrogant

Dr. Narouze has made my life absolutely functional. With severe chronic back and neck issues Dr. Narouze has helped me tremendously. His staff is absolutely the best in the business kind and gentle..

Absolutely no problems or complaints of Dr. Narouze or his staff. Have been a patient of his since his days with the Cleveland Clinic, and he has helped me beyond belief. I will never be pain free, but he has made my life much more bearable and for that I am grateful. The hour+ drive I must make is well worth it! He is not a pill pusher, which is fine with me, but I feel a lot of these patient reviews (complaints) are due to to the fact that they are "seekers", and just not getting what they hoped for.

The doctor is pretty thorough, when you get to see him. Normally you are routed to a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. If medications or tests are ordered, you will need to do your own follow-up to make sure someone gets them submitted and authorized by your insurance. Do not expect return phone calls from anyone at the office in under a week, even if you are out of medication or having a new problem. Really too bad that the office staff can ruin the entire experience and force patients to go elsewhere out of exasperation when such a smart doctor is right there.

Took to long to get in to see doctor, staff droped the ball on MRI. Four weeks and no MRI appointment. Summa said 24 hours to get appointment after they have paper. Four weeks and no one has filed paper work. But they got my co-pay and billed summa,but have done nothing to follow up. Its all about the money.

I have only good things to say about this group!...and my pain has improved with every visit...I'm confident that Dr.Narouze and Dr. Jacob....are aware of how painful things can get and I trust them fully to be able to keep pain levels to a minimum so I'm able to function more normally everyday....Thank You!!

Dr Narouze is a very compassionate doctor with extreme insight into how to help people in pain. If you are looking for a pill pusher, keep looking. He has an excellent clinical mind and is a welcome addition to the Akron area. Is he busy? Yes. It is worth the time? YES!

Just don't waste your time. Bad attitude, doesn't believe you, bases everything on old MRI's and forgets that when it comes to the spine that you can have the most messed up x-ray's, MRI's etc. and feel fine. Likewise, your exams can look perfect and you can be in extreme pain. If you need pain pills, you will not get them from him, period.

I would never recommend anyone to go to this so called Pain Doctor if they are truly suffering. ZERO compassion, has his own agenda, does not review your records, has no idea what was discussed on a previous visit, etc. A sad, sad excuse of a pain dr.
