Dr. Samih Adel Ibrahim, MD

He is compassionate and caring, which is hard to find in a male OBGYN. My husband and I are pleased with Dr. Ibrahim thus far.

I visited this doctor for severe pelvic pain in the right side of my abdomen that had persisted for several days. He examined my abdomen by pressing on it several times causing pain. He did a quick in-office ultrasound on which he noted a "small amount of fluid" and a thickened uterus lining. He told me he could see nothing on the right side where my pain was concentrated. He offered me stronger narcotics for my pain like Vicodin, which I refused. (I did not desire to mask the pain, I wanted to get to the bottom of what was causing it.) He also suggested that I give a urine sample to test for pregnancy (possible ectopic pregnancy) or a bladder infection. I gave a urine sample, which tested positive for pregnancy. I was then sent to Labcorp for HCG blood levels and given a follow-up appointment for Monday - this was Friday. He told me I could get the bloodwork "today or tomorrow" - There was NO URGENCY to diagnose what was causing my pain and bloating and NO CONCERN for a… possible ectopic pregnancy. I RECEIVED NO FOLLOW-UP CALL FROM THIS DOCTOR'S OFFICE OVER THE WEEKEND regarding my blood work or to check on my condition.When I left the office, I continued to experience the stabbing pains. I did not feel comfortable waiting all weekend for a diagnosis, especially when an ectopic pregnancy rupture was possible. I went to Princeton Radiology for a diagnostic quality transvaginal ultrasound (something I did not receive in Dr. Ibrahim's office). The radiologist reported: Within the right adnexa there is a LARGE complex heterogeneous mass measuring 11.2 x 11 x 4.8 cm. This appears to be engulfing the right ovary. There is a LARGE amount of surrounding complex free fluid, most consistent with hemorrhage. There is also associated hematoma. Given the history of a positive pregnancy test, the findings are concerning for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. This was only 2 hours after my ultrasound with Dr. Ibrahim where he reported NOTHING on the right side and a SMALL amount of fluid. In fact I had a mass and internal bleeding up to my liver! I was sent to the ER immediately and had laparoscopic surgery to remove the mass and drain the large amount of fluid in my abdomen cavity.Seeing that Dr. Ibrahim is not a radiologists and does not have the knowledge to scan or interpret imaging studies, he should not be allowed to have imaging equipment in his office. This was a case of gross malpractice. I would not recommend this doctor - he is UNCARING AND UNSAFE.

Dr. Ibrahim delivered my 10 3/4 lb baby by C section. He did not try to push me into surgery, but gave me facts to weigh. My husband and I made the decision to go with a C section because it was safer for the baby. Once we entered the operating room I got really scared, but Dr. Ibrahim looked me in the eye and got me to trust him. He didn't have to give me a pep talk, but he did, and it made a tremendous difference. I am very grateful he did. I was not impressed at all with the RWJ hospital. They have ridiculous rules in the maternity ward. They force fed my baby formula when I wanted to breastfeed exclusively. They also had all these people coming into my room constantly. I was recovering from surgery and was not able to rest at all. When I asked the nurses not to be disturbed I was told that there was nothing they could do, because they could not change the hospital rules. They had to weigh all the babies at midnight, take blood at 6 or 7am, cannot remember exactly, and so on. I will… never go back to RWJ for delivery. I heard that Dr. Ibrahim just quit the RWJ practice, and I am very excited to follow him, hopefully away from RWJ.
