Dr. Samuel Joseph Granieri, MD

I am currently trying to get a new internist. Last visit I gave him a short list of concerns. He gave quick one word answers to everything. I had to go to the Emergency Room twice in the last 3 months because he refused to take my illness questions seriously. Do not go to this Doctor. He needs to retire.

After seeing Samuel for three years and to be honest, the three years was never too exciting, but because in three years typically a young person doesn't visit too much doctors I decided to stay with him. But THIS HAPPENED! I had pain in my right upper side of the stomach. I decided to schedule an appointment with Dr. Samuel. My family thought it was related with the gallbladder, so I wrote him that he must see me. Next day, he calls back saying that I must go to the ER (Emergency Room) because he has no ultrasound machine and he said is Classic Gallbladder Stone. WHAAATTT! He diagnose me over the phone!!!! I told him how is possible for him to send me to the ER without even seeing me? I was so upset that I had to shedule another appointment with a different internist in Northwestern Hospital which I am so grateful for. The new internist send me for blood check first to make sure everything is good. Results were back the next day... The second day, I had an ultrasound which came… negative with gallbladder stone. The fifth day I am doing an MRI and now waiting for the results.... The summary of this story is Samuel doesn't really care for his patients... He's been many years practicing, but it feels that he lost compassion throughout his years, lost his touch in his craft, if he can't see you he will always tell you to go to the ER. Never again! and I decided to write this review because I was disappointed not only with his persona, but as a doctor which is to properly diagnose his patients, instead of been lazy and sending a patient to the ER because he feels doesn't have time for it. VERY Disappointing!

Suffering from an odd skin irritation for a couple weeks. I went to the Northwestern Urgent care center. The doctor there said she had no idea what it was or what was causing it. She suggested that I see my Doctor. When i called for an appointment, she was unavailable but Dr. Granieri was. When he found out that I was seeing him about the same thing as the other doctor he said "Great, now we won't get paid" His exact words. He wrote up with a condition that I was already diagnosed with. "Don't worry, it won't cost you much" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I'm no lawyer, but that's fraud. Don't trust him

Appropriate amount of time to answer patient's questions and concerns is very important to promote patient safety. Unfortunately, I've had a bad experience with Samuel Granieri. I was seen for only 5 minutes. I haven't had a chance to ask questions as he was rushing and stepped out of the room immediately. Because I was neglected, I immediately filed a complaint through NWH Patient Relations following Joint Commission, IDPH, BCBS, and Medical Board. I am sincerely hoping that no patient will ever experience the experience I have had with this physician.
