Dr. Samuel Andrew Polek, MD

I cannot say enough good things about him. My mom, brother and I were all patients of his. He was always took very good care of us. At one point, I was driving 6 hr round trip to still be seen by him. We had a very traumatic experience and he seen to it that we had all available resources. I always felt very comfortable in his office and Kristen was always super sweet. I sure do wish he was still my Dr.

Dr Poleck left the state recently and left me as a patient without any notice or didnt even offer to help find another doctor. No letter, no return calls, nothing. Now I have no medicine and have to find a new doctor. Very unprofessional to not notify patients or try to assist them. Find someone else to assist with your mental health.

He is so patient and understanding. He truly listens.

Dr. Polek doesn't seem to have the personality needed to be a psychiatrist. He was rude, arrogant, argumentative, and contrary. I did not feel I said or did anything to provoke this kind of response from him. I've seen a few other psychiatrist before him and have never been treated the way he acted towards me. I agree with one of the other reviews, he almost seems to have a split personality. He was nice sometimes and other times almost impossible to talk with. In my humble opinion, he needs some kind of therapy for his issues, instead of trying to help others with theirs. It's sad someone who might be already traumatized to have to experience this.

I feel that Dr. Polek makes it very clear that he wants to get patients in and out of the office. I have ADD, so I have a few appointments a year to check in and keep my medication filled. As an ADD patient, I feel that Dr. Polek does not make a good faith effort to work with me when I have trouble forgetting appointments and/or if I'm late. He charges a $100 no show fee. Three years ago, he waived a much lower fee. In order to have my medication refilled, I still have to visit him even if I do pay the fee. He claims he loses money when I don't show up, but he actually stands to gain more by not having me show up. Here's the breakdown of charges for a typical visit: Charged Amount $150.00 Discount Amount $85.00 Not Covered $0.00 Copay Amount $35.00 Coinsurance Amount $0.00 Paid by Plan $30.00 Between my insurance and my copay, a provider would receive $65 for a visit that takes 5 minutes. Why would anyone waste time on me when there are surely other patients who can be… billed for more? If I don't show up and never return again, great. There's probably a more cost effective patient to replace me. If I decide I need my medication and pay the fee? Fee and visit: $165 total. Throw in the cost of my medication and now I'm paying out $200 for a follow-up visit. I dont have the option to just pay the fee, skip the visit, and show up at the next one. I have to show up to get my prescription refilled (you know, for the condition that makes it harder for me to actually show up or be on time for said appointment). This type of practice pressures me into paying the fee so I can get on with my life, but I won't do it anymore. There's no way to know if this is intentional, but it's clear that it's not in the consumer's best interest. As a patient and a consumer, I do not recommend Dr. Polek. If there were to be any silver lining, it would be his front desk staff. Always friendly, but not enough to make up for my overall experience.

My appt. with Dr Polek went very well. He is very professional & personable. Very knowledgeable in his field. Very pleasant office staff. Would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor in this field.
