Dr. Samuel Rafalin, MD

Excellent physician. Took his time during examinations and explained what was going on with personal issues with empathy and kindness. The staff was very kind and help with my blood work and I was out in time for work

I only started seeing Dr. Rafalin because my GYN at the practice for many years, Dr. Lumiere, no longer sees pregnant patients, so by default I went to Dr. Rafalin, without thinking, very unfortunately for me. As soon as I saw him for my first visit I could tell he cares nothing for his patients and only for finishing his job and getting out of there as soon as possible and going to his personal life which he references often. As an OB/GYN it is normal for doctors to return pregnant patients’ phone calls if they have a question, especially if it is a new pregnancy and they’re having pain or some weird symptoms, however, Dr. rafalin will indeed let you know how much of a pain/hassle you are being to him just by simply leaving a message with the receptionist during normal business hours and when he returns your call (if he decides to return your call), he definitely goes out of his way to let his patient know what a nuisance they are to him. My main issue with him is the fact… that he is unethical; and I have been advised by both the hospital that he is affiliated with as well as my own insurance company to report him to the state Board of Health because he literally dropped me as a patient for no reason because he heard I was getting second opinions and left me without care. This is not allowed according to medical standard practices as he is supposed to follow up with care for 30 days, and allow somebody 30 days to find a new doctor — being pregnant —and five months pregnant I was at the time. He has shown what type egotistical personality problems he has, as good doctors will welcome a second opinion or encourage it, not question you when you get one and then kick you out of the practice for considering a different doctor. This to me was shocking behavior and he became like a complete child refusing to answer or even respond to any of my phone calls ( even when I called as an emergency having severe abdominal pain) and the practice became very rude and unresponsive to any of my requests for information when I called the practice completely shocked (because I had an appointment with him the following week and they wouldn’t tell me why it was canceled) they kept putting me on hold as Dr. Rafalin was feeding them the words to say on the phone. I was being very cordial and calm asking what exactly happened and why I was dropped from the practice, and someone who was on the phone with me (I don’t even know if they have a practice manager), literally hung up on me mid-sentence. It was completely unacceptable and unprofessional on the highest level. I will report him to the highest levels possible and will follow up on that here. He is extremely unprofessional and his bedside manner is abhorrent and I would never want my baby to be delivered by him or advise anyone that I care remotely about to go to him to have their baby delivered, or even to see him for a basic practice needs, because he is really not a nice person and should not be in this profession. I only take this time to write this because I had such a bad experience I don’t want others to have the same.

Dr. Rafalin is not a Doctor that will "baby" you, but he is very thorough and very good at what he does! i had to go through my very first big surgery with him. he took his time in explaining my condition and the procedure. my mother met him, and she absolutely loves him!! he comes off intimidating, but as he gets to know you as his patient you see little glimpses of his sense of humor and how kind he can be. Dr. Rafalin is very thorough, respectful, and works very quickly so be sure to be ready to keep up, but confident that he is very good at what he does!

I was so sick when I was pregnant. I felt terrible. I always felt like I was bothering him even though I rarely had to contact him. He Kept telling me everything was in my head. Told me to go see a psychiatrist!!! Can you imagine??? I was actually afraid of him. You should not be afraid of your own doctor! Zero bedside matter and has no compassion!!! He's rude and arrogant. I have no idea how people go to him! Stay away !!!!

Good doctor

I went to this doctor exactly once, and feel I have stories for a lifetime. Most important for your health and safety: he is incompetent and gave me partial information. In retrospect, I realize he was pressuring me to choose a treatment (which made no sense, even given what he was saying) so that I would have to make several more appointments with him instead of with a competent specialist who could actually help me. That should be enough to make one run screaming. Fortunately, Dr. Rafalin is a truly awful human being. What this means is that even if one does not realize immediately that he is an utterly incompetent physician, one can immediately see that he is rude, a bully, and downright abusive. I would sooner put my care in the hands of a medical student than return to this incompetent and abusive person.

The most horrible doctor i have ever been to. I read the review, but just could not imagine how bad it would be. He is a business man, billed insane amounts to insurance, does tests needed or not. prescribes needed or not, and basically does not care at all. I dont understand how his practice is surviging, actually i do because he bills like there is no end: lab 1, lab 2, repeat tests, etc etc I will NEVER go back to him, i am gkad that it only cost me $$$ to find out who he really is and i kept my health. The smallest local office will teat you better.
