Dr. Samuel Joseph Stepanow, MD

My family has gone to Dr. Stepanow for almost 20 years. I have seen him for the past 6 years now that I am an adult. He is an amazing doctor and what stands apart from the rest is that he actually takes his time with his patients. I have UPMC insurance and work in Oakland so it would be easier for me to just see someone there, but I don't because I feel valued and cared about in his office. Yes, his wait time is astronomical, but that's because he spends the time with his patients that they deserve. With many other doctors I feel like they're trying to diagnose and push me out as fast as they can, but I never feel that way with Dr. Stepanow. The secretary understands how he gets behind so if you're seeing him call ahead and she'll give you an updated time of when you should come. If you have an appointment in the afternoon don't expect to be seen around your scheduled time. I had an appointment recently for 5pm, called ahead and came at 6:30, and was seen at 8. There were still 2… people after me that had appointments and in most doctors offices people would leave in a huff if they had to wait that long, but not here. Myself and the other patients value him as our doctor, and the fact that people don't cancel even if they see him 3 hours after their scheduled time should say something.

Worst doctor ever! Never sees his patients. Only calls in meds. If you're looking for a doctor to be an active participant in your health, he's not it!
