Dr. Sandra Gayle Mendel, MD

I have never been treated so poorly by a physician. From the moment she answered the call, she was curt and dismissive, repeatedly cutting me off mid-sentence and refusing to truly listen to my concerns. She was argumentative for the sake of being argumentative, and her demeanor made it clear she had no interest in providing actual care. To make matters worse, she lied on my paperwork—claiming I told her I “had a sinus infection” and insinuating I was seeking antibiotics, neither of which ever happened. She then noted I was “extremely unhappy.” Well, no kidding—I was unhappy because she treated me like dirt. The entire appointment couldn’t have lasted more than five minutes before she rushed me off, prescribing a muscle relaxer for my ear and neck pain without exploring anything further. It felt less like medical care and more like a high-volume, high-dollar revolving door. Judging from her other reviews, it seems this behavior isn’t an isolated incident.

I am a previous patient of Dr. Mendel’s. She came to a clinic that I had already established a year’s worth of care with and I ended up following her to another healthcare facility. I think she is forward thinking and applies practical medical treatment plans that will work successfully for the individual patient long term. She listens and responds to your issues in a language that pays respect to your intelligence, meaning she gives you the “why” she is doing it, instead of just the “what” she is doing, in regards to your treatment. She IS no nonsense, as others have stated, so if you just want someone to coddle you, you better give Mom a call, cuz Dr. Mendel will not be the doc for you. I, personally, prefer brain power over warm fuzzies. She is super smart and she gets the job done—quick. I guarantee if something ails you that your current MD can’t fix—she will. The wait time is never long, but I have never felt rushed or unfinished after an appt. If you have multiple… health issues that need addressing, she is happy to do that, just out of respect for her waiting patients, she will have an immediate follow up made for you. She left the clinic I attend now and I really miss her. I am 57 yrs old and the aging process brings new changes to your body constantly. Some concerning, but most are just what we have to accept as we grow older. Dr. Mendel was such a constant support without ever making me feel self conscious to bring up a new, unrecognizable ache or symptom. She makes you feel like a team sharing a long term goal of you living your best life possible.

Overall, she’s a great doctor. She has listened to my health needs and has made recommendations. I was very lucky to have found her as she’s better than the primary doctor I had for years whoI was paying for health insurance.

Bad doctor ever! Very rude!

I had a great experience during my visit with Dr. Mendel. I cam in because of some breast pains I was having, and she ordered up the tests, and had them sent before I left the building. Her bedside manner is direct, she comes across as extremely intelligent. I would make her my primary if I could. I highly recommend her if you are comfortable with a no nonsense doctor, she is really nice, but she doesn't hold your hand. I personally like that in a doctor, direct, clear communication.

Knowledgeable, but does not spend a lot of time with patient. Quick to prescribe Rx for any complaint. Not the greatest active listener--I did not feel fully heard or understood by Dr Mendel.
