Dr. Sandra Lynne A Vilhauer, MD

I was thinking about Dr. Vilhauer last week, and remembering how we loved her when our sons were her patients. My third son, Adam, fell and bumped his head on the table. He was 13 months old at the time. The next morning I couldn’t wake him up. I was terrified an immediately called Dr. Vilhauer’s office and she told me to bring him in NOW. I arrived at the office and she took one look at him and yelled for an ambulance stat! We arrived at Emmanuel and they immediately Xrayed him. To get to the end of the story, this was in 1977, only one CT scan existed in the Portland metro area, so he was sent by ambulance to Good Samaritan, where he was diagnosed with an epidural hematoma (brain bleed). He was transported back and right into surgery. Adam is 41 now with 2 sons of his own. I know without a shadow of doubt that because of Dr Vilhauer’s quick response, my son is alive.

Dr. Vilhauer is equal parts Doctor, Grandmother, & Fairy Godmother. Exactly what we wanted.
