Dr. Sandrijn Madeleen Van Schaik, MD

Pediatric Critical Care Dr. Sandrijn van Schaik is a pediatric critical care specialist, who cares for patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU). In addition to caring for patients, she is active in outreach projects to strengthen relationships with doctors in the community and involved in numerous educational activities, including a simulation-based training program for pediatric residents. Van Schaik earned a medical degree at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. She spent several years studying respiratory syncytial virus infection at Children's Hospital of Buffalo, N.Y., and the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, where she earned a Ph.D. She completed a pediatric residency at the Floating Hospital of Tufts University in Boston and completed postdoctoral training in pediatric intensive care at the joint fellowship program of UCSF Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital and Research Center of Oakland. …Van Schaik has won several awards, including the Charlotte Rose Coleman-Fry Award for Pediatric Critical Care Fellows and the UCSF Exceptional Physician Award. She is an assistant clinical professor of pediatrics in the Critical Care at UCSF.
