Dr. Sanford Harlan Auerbach, MD

I've been going to doctors for 20 years to figure out why I have debilitating fatigue. I saw Dr. Auerbach for insomnia and expected to get a prescription for Ambien. He told me that my sleep study was unremarkable and started asking me about a gym injury that was in my file from 1999. He went on to ask about numbness in my hands and feet, eyesight, clumsiness, etc. He then performed an extremely thorough neurological exam. He scheduled me for an extensive MRI of my entire spine. He called me to discuss the results on the same day that he got them. He strongly suspects MS and is aggressively pursuing a clinical diagnosis of MS so that he can start me on medication as soon as possible in order to prevent further damage. He immediately scheduled a brain MRI and extensive blood tests so that he can make the diagnosis. When he told me that I probably have MS he was very compassionate, but at the same time told it to me straight, which I really needed. I can't stand when doctors… beat around the bush and leave me guessing. He's extremely knowledgeable and kind. My appointment was over two hours and I could have asked as many questions as I wanted. He's also sending me to a neuropsychologist to deal with insomnia and I suspect also to have me evaluated for cognitive impairment from MS. If you have a neurological issue look no further. You could not do any better than Dr. Auerbach.
