Dr. Sanjay Vohra, MD

I accompanied my husband to an appointment with Dr. Vohra. First, he was 3 hours late with an emergency. That would be OK if we had a courtesy notice of how late he may be. He was exceptionally defensive regarding the fact he was late. Look, Doc, I just mentioned that you were late and I would appreciate a head's up. That's common courtesy. He asked if we had read the pamphlet provided when we arrived at his office. We hadn't. Frankly, I've read so much on cardio health since my husband's initial emergency surgery, I was not in the mood for more. He scolded us for not reading his Time Magazine article. Another wasted 5 minutes. We were asked for my husband's current meds. I have a list that the hospital provided. He scolded us again! We MUST bring my husband's meds to his office in a ziplock bag. We are to bring a 2nd ziplock as well. Dr. Vohra will then remove meds from bag 1 that he does not want my husband to take and place them in bag 2. We are to come with… both bags and all meds anytime we have an appointment. Doc, I am a lawyer, duly licensed to practice law in Nevada. I am fully capable of sorting which meds to take or not to take. He was an hour late to my husband's surgery (scheduled) because of "traffic." We do not have that much traffic in Nevada! I do not believe him. Finally, he was unable to clear the block from the scheduled surgery. The reason he was late for our appointment was that he was unable to clear blockage for another patient on the day of our office appointment. Although my husband has an HMO and can only see physicians on an approved list (and this was Dr. Vohra), I was quickly able to have the insurance company agree that my husband could have a different cardiologist. Now, all of this occurred after my husband's initial emergency. After his emergency surgery, a nurse contacted me in the waiting room to meet with Dr. Vohra. She walked me to his office. Gruffly, he said, "show her the video." He said nothing further. Not that my husband was doing well, not that he would fully recover, not that the surgery was successful/unsuccessful. He provided no details on the surgery. The nurse showed me the video of the blockage, explained the surgery and how my husband was doing.

The wait was long, but well worth it. He spent almost 30 minutes with me making sure I understood all my medications, my treatment plan and how to prevent any further heart issues. The staff was wonderful. They are very pleasant, professional and well informed. Nice to see such a caring office.

Best Dr I know of, wish he was closer to us
