Dr. Sankara Rao Kothakota, MD

I wish there was a way to give no stars or negative stars. I really wish I would have read the reviews first before I came. This orthopedist was recommended by the Bowie Medical Center which is where I went when I fell and injured my left knee. My experience with the receptionist when I was making the appointment. I admit, the office took me aback. It looks like it hasn't been updated in years. Circa 1975 and hasn't been aesthetically in all that time. The wait wasn't too long and the medical assistant that helped me when I first went back was very friendly. My issue was the doctor. He didn't pay attention to anything I said. I felt like he basically "shushed" me when I was trying to ask questions and express my concerns dealing with my injured knee. He did take xrays (laying down) and didn't want to do an MRI. Told me there was no need. Told me to take off the long brace the medical center gave me and just walk with no crutches and no cane. He spent more time talking… about him and a time he fell wearing sandals then he did listing to me and discussing my injury. Also said I had a torn meniscus, but people walk on those all the time with no crutches or anything. What he said and the way he acted just didn't sit right with me. I went to get a second opinion. The new doctor took xrays of my knee standing up and found something immediately. A fractured knee cap. He put me back in a long immobilizing cast and ordered an MRI immediately. He doesn't want me bending my knee until the results come back so I won't do more damage.

Dr. Kothakota has been my family's orthopedic doctor for over 10 years. I highly recommend him to anyone requiring a skilled and experienced orthopedist. Sometimes the office wait is a little long, however that is the case with most popular physicians. I trust my bones to no one but Dr. Kothakota!

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR, he is money hungry and just wants to get paid. He accepts Medicaid and medicare and has his patients return unnecessarily so that he can get paid. He has no empathy for his patients and the fact they may have to take off from work numerous times, (his response to that is it's not his problem). He is ripping Medicaid and medicare off

DR. KOTHAKOTA IS ONE OF THE BEST DOCTORS I HAVE EVERY HAD. I WOULD GIVE HIM A 5 STAR RATING. HE PERFORMED 3 NECK FUSIONS AND A BONE DRAFT FROM MY HIP. HE MAKES YOU FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE. HIS BEDSIDE MANNERISM IS NEXT TO NONE. THANKS TO HIM I AM NOT PARALIZED.
