Dr. Santha Thomas Kurien, MD

I have been struggling for months, finding it it difficult to find a therapist. Called this office, spoke to a very sweet young woman. Requested an appointment, she explained she had to ask preliminary questions. We completed that, next an email saying the doctor is requesting personal information, address, age etc. Next day I get an email, the doctor is requesting medical history forms from MD. I go through that, to find that wasn’t enough had to contact another MD and send additional medical History. After 10 days of all of that, I get an appointment for two weeks out. Four days before the appointment, a call, we have to reschedule your appointment two weeks out… Basically, it’s at least four weeks of wasted time and energy. That afternoon, I receive a letter from the “doctor “stating she Is no longer accepting new patients!!! I felt devastated! I had waited and waited all that time, responding phone calls, emails to have NO resolution. I was desperately seeking help,… devastating! I requested all medical history be sent to me, no need for them to have it, it has been 1 MONTH! horrible!

Dr Kurien by far is the best dementia provider I took my father to. He came to her office unable to sit and over medicated from a recent hospitalization due to UTI which changes behaviors. She changed his medications and 1 week later he walked into the office and was able to sit. For the next 1.5 years she managed his care and we got our dad back. No words can express our gratitude for the great care we received.

She gave me drugs I hurt myself very badly and had huge doctor bills. Don’t see her she will leave you worst off than you came

Dr. Kurien absolutely saved my life. She takes the time to talk and listen to you. During my roughest stretch, if I called the office and said that I was struggling, she would tell me to come right in and then sit and talk with me for as long as I needed. She certainly not involved in a conspiracy to push meds on you. She listens to you, addresses your concerns and works with you to build the right treatment program. I am so greatful that I found Dr. Kurien.

Dr. Kurien is tge best doctor I've ever had for therapy. Unfortunately I can no longer see her due to my insurance has changed and I now have husky d. I am very upset about this because I need her and she is the ONLY therapist I like. There has not been any other doctor that understands me, she is the only one. I miss you Dr. Kurien and I need you today more than ever! I know she'll never see this but maybe God will send someone to let her know I need her.

Not good diagnosing patients.

After a life of bipolar, I know shrinks, and I know there are good ones and useless ones. I was lucky to find Dr Kurien when I did, I needed both good medication advice and a competent appraisal. Dr K. is a no-nonsense kind of doc, always interested in the solution rather than lingering over the problem, and always empowering you to make your own changes. If you want to spend years in analysis talking about your mother, go elsewhere. If you want to tackle your problems head-on, this is the doc for you!

Dr. Kurien is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. She is soft spoken and helps you feel at ease almost instantly. She wants to know YOU, not just your "problem". She takes the time to evaluate your needs and works with you to try to come up with a plan, not just for medication, but for improvement overall. I can't say enough about her. She has also been voted top doc in her category by her peers through CT Magazine (google it, just to be sure I'm accurate). That alone speaks volumes about her skills and effectiveness. I would, and have, recommend her to anyone. If you are scared or uncomfortable with the stigma attached to seeing a "shrink", don't be with Dr. Kurien. She's unlike any other that I have ever seen.

Dr.Kurien should've have studied anouther part of medicine such as cardiology,or such better yet she should've been Pathologist. Dr.Kurien I found is very unprofessional in dealing with her patients and can be quite rude. Her assistant Sandra is very nice, but Dr,kurien is anouther story. Dr.Kurien might be good in dealing with geriatric patients, but as far as anything other, she treats her patients like "just someone with a mental illness"
