Dr. Sara Jane Cornell, PhD

This counselor is not worth going if you really want help. She isnâ??t friendly and certainly not compassionate. The first time I met her she was put out by my fear of her â??therapyâ?? cats. She also has a condensing way of talking to patients. She scheduled me for an appointment for the next week, referencing that I clearly had â??nothing else to doâ??. She was late for my second appointment and I had to wait outside of a locked door. She has a waiting room, yet clients donâ??t have access to it until she is ready to open the door. Iâ??ve never seen an office like this. Her website says she has staff; this office has no other people there. She leaves her phone on during the appointment, where she texted and made comments about people â??unable to understand plain English.â?? She became very annoyed that I didnâ??t have answers about my goals. When she asked if I wanted to be tested on paper or computer she didnâ??t like my answer. I told her paper. Then she asked why. I… said I didnâ??t want to waste my time. She took this to mean something else (wk before she said I could take the paper home with me or use her laptop during my appt with her). Why waste my sessions? So she began to argue that I thought being there with her was a waste of time. She shook her head and said she doesnâ??t have time for arguing (as if I was actually arguing or a child of hers or something). I still sat there. She changed the subject and made up her own scenario about my problems saying you want your family to changed right? But you canâ??t change them. I thought about what she asked me and said, â??I know I canâ??t change anyone.â?? She sighed and tossed her ponytail over her shoulder. â??I will not nitpick words with you.â?? Her behavior turned appalling. Clearly this is not a safe environment to express yourself. The session did not reach the 15 minute mark. I told her it is hard for me to open up to people with my issues and the way she was talking to me wasnâ??t helping. I thought she would apologize. No Sir. She continued her behavior and I left.
