Dr. Sara Aurora Ramirez, MD

Sara Ramirez was extremely casual throughout my pregnancy and didn't seem worried when my huge baby didn't move enough during non-stress testing on his due date (knowing what I know now with my second baby and much more diligent doctor, he should have come out early). She sent me home and asked me to return days later. I complied, not knowing to question her. When I returned he was moving but my blood pressure had sky-rocketed. When I met with Dr Ramirez she told me to go home again and keep waiting. I pointed out my blood pressure to her and she suddenly decided I needed to be induced. The hospital have me anti-seizure meds when I arrived. Dr Ramirez came to induce me hours later, and literally took 15 tried to insert the balloon, using 5 different speculum! The nurses were shocked! I was completely in pain. This kicked off a total birth Trauma that entailed my epidural not working after three tries, adding am additional medication each time. I felt every contraction and got the… horrible side effect of extreme shaking to the point my husband had to lay on me for long periods of time to try and stop the shaking. Ramirez didn't offer any relief. My baby had low variability and I was given oxygen to help my baby, and Ramirez still didn't do anything! 24 hours of this torment and a different doctor doing rounds (Capobianco) came in and immediately called it. He sounded concerned and said, "we need to get the baby out now." THANK YOU! Within 20 minutes my baby was out, and I was instantly hit with post-partum the moment he took him out. I found out months later that it was nearly inevitable given the trauma we had endured. And my poor baby boy had colic, reflux and was generally uncomfortable for months after our experience. I also learned that this was normal, as was the physical therapy, cranial-sacral therapy and speech services that have followed. I strongly believe that if Ramirez had been more diligent, and took notice of my son's stress prior to his birth that we could have taken him out earlier and not suffered. My second son is about to be born by a different (obviously!) Doctor, and my experience could not be more different. She is very diligent and caring, and my son will be in good hands. I can not believe how unnecessary the trauma was that we experienced with Ramirez. Do not see her!

Waited for a written prescription for brand patches for menopause because generic do not work. 2 hours later got prescription in between patients and it was typed for generic, are you kidding me! I have been communicating with this office for 3 days now even had Dr. call for prior authorization for brand patches. It made it seem like Dr. Ramirez didn’t care and that I was being a pain in her behind. If she is a specialist in menopause she should know you don’t want to screw with a women who needs her patches! Normally I wouldn’t even write this review but I have been without my patches for a month, and I’m a little edgy so watch out people! Guess it’s time to look for a new doctor.

This review is specifically for DR. SARA RAMIREZ of Mission Hospital - Mission Viejo and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center- Laguna Hills. My rating would be a ZERO if there was an option. I hope this review will help save some soon-to-be parents from the experience we had. My husband and I are having our very first baby and as a first pregnancy it can be very stressful. This "doctor" was so dismissive about every concern we had and on top of it gave us FALSE and unnecessary test results; stating that our baby will absolutely be born with specific complications. When we asked Sara Ramirez for specifics on the test results, she was unable to give us clear answers and referred us to a genetic counselor. We met with a genetic counselor who was able to explain our test results in a more caring and precise way that made me and my husband less worried and more informed. Our genetic counselor who SPECIALIZES with this specific testing actually told us that chances were not as high or as… problematic as the doctor told us they would be. That the test simply showed a non-specific abnormality and that it was too soon to be certain what it was, or if it would even still be there at full term. After talking with this specialist we were relieved! Already hesitant to continue my visits with Sara Ramirez, I figured I would give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking that she was having an off day... I had to schedule an emergency visit with her because I had gotten into a car accident and was hit pretty hard while stopped at a red light. Before talking with her about the details of the accident, she cuts me off, doesn't ask if I'm ok, and the first thing she says is "Oh you're fine, nothing to worry about." This was unsettling because she didn't check me or ask about the details of the accident. (I would have hoped for more care from the person I'm supposed to entrust with the health of my unborn child.) Sara Ramirez then asked how my appointment went with the genetic counselor and I told her that the specialist was very informative with the test results and that my husband and I felt comfortable and more assured moving forward with the pregnancy. Disregarding what the trained specialist told us, she then said, "you know that the test is 99% positive that your baby will have this 'specific complication'". She then continued to speak to me in a very demeaning manner as if I wasn't making the right decision. It was almost as if she was persuading me to get an abortion. I was baffled that this lady was questioning my decision even after I told her multiple times that I was going to keep my baby. This doctor seems more interested in preserving the idea that she is "right" in her conclusions rather than truly caring for her patients. If you want to feel worthless then "Doctor" Sara Ramirez is the perfect doctor for you. Otherwise, please don't put yourself through the same stress we had been put through with her ill-informed, uncaring and un-compassionate bedside manner.

BEWARE: C-section happy doctor. Will push you to do unnecessary interventions to speed up labor and end up in cesarean so that she doesn't have to spend time with you in the labor room. I am traumatized and very let down my my experience. The C-section was extremely painful and made me feel absolutely miserable for a month. Years later the scar still uncomfortable and itchy and hard to cover with a bathing suit. Was very difficult to take care of my son due to pain and feeling awful. Now that I am pregnant again I learn that I am at increase chance of a repeat c-section because of my prior one...higher chance of uterine rupture, etc which they never warned me about. It unethical what these doctors do to convenience themselves. They need to find another profession if they don't want to do what their job calls for....and that's letting women's bodies do what they are supposed to do naturally. Do yourself a favor and find a doctor who had very low cesarean rates and is totally… for vaginal births. Your body and your baby will be so much happier.

I found her to be cold and insensitive. She doesn't appear to write notes in the file. At appointments she asked me what we've done previously. When you're called in from the waiting room, you are weighed and your blood pressure is taken. You are then asked to wait, standing in the hall, until a room is ready for you. The office staff is unhelpful as well.

The service is absolutely horrible an inhumane. My mother was seeing this Doctor and when her assistant called to give the results was extremely rude an offensive. Please do your homework before you go see this doctor there are plenty of doctors more qualified and with better trained and professional staff.
