Dr. Sara Lee Shaw, MD

Sally Shaw, M.D., has practiced radiology at City of Hope for more than 25 years. Since February 1992, she has headed City of Hopes Breast Imaging Section, working to improve the quality of mammography. Dr. Shaw strives to continuously expand and improve City of Hopes breast imaging capabilities. She has overseen the introduction of several novel mammography and biopsy technologies, and has been responsible for auditing the departments performance since 1994. Throughout her career, she has also focused on quality assurance issues in breast imaging, including studies to quantify the benefits of having two radiologists read mammograms, and investigations aimed at improving breast cancer detection techniques. Currently, Dr. Shaw is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network advisory panel that develops and updates guidelines for breast cancer screening for Comprehensive Cancer Centers across the United States. Dr. Shaw received her medical degree from the University of …California Irvine. Prior to joining City of Hope in 1977, she served her internship, residency and fellowship at the Los Angeles County University of Southern California Medical Center, where she still serves as an assistant clinical professor in Radiology. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has delivered presentations at conferences and seminars around the world.
