Dr. Saradha Chexal, MD

I went today to get a procedure done at the Round Rock location. I did not receive any information prior to my appointment (E.g., do not wear contacts, have someone drive you, etc.) When I arrived, they informed me they would not be able to see me. I didn't bring a mask (Covid-19:not mandatory in Round Rock.) I understand it's for safety purposes but they could have offered a mask. When the staff member indicated "we can't break the rules for you because we would have to break the rules for everyone," I was thinking that a professional and organized doctor's office would have: A) Contact me prior to the appointment with need to know information B) Offer the patient a mask if she/he does not have one. Definitely not going back and do not recommend to anyone.

A simple annual eye review, resulted in a freaked out ophthalmologist and a patient and spouse in disbelief. The result was an immediate appointment set with Dr. Saradha Chexal at RCA the next day. We arrived and completed the usual new patient stuff, insurance provided and the inevitable wait. Our first contact was with a young lady by the name of Madison. Madison was the med tech and cute as a button. She went thorough my paperwork and asked for my past medical history since I had written in, "To many surgical procedures to list, I'm a walking miracle". So as I reeled off my procedures, she wrote them down. We had great banter back and forth. Lot's of laughter all the while calming my nerves. She numbed my eyes, dilated them and got me ready for the battery of tests to come up. Madison alone is worth going to this place when you need care for your retina's. Next tech took me through the Opti Retina scan and all the other eyeball picture taking thingys. Once the test's are… over, it was time to see Dr. Chexal. In walked a sylph of a doctor. She immediately introduced herself to me and Suzie and pulled up a chair to talk to me as to what is going on with my eyes. She was kind, gentle, informative and direct. After stabbing my eyeballs with various instruments and shining a spot light in my face, she had her diagnosis. (She was very gentle and it really didn't hurt, annoying of course, but she walked me through everything she was doing) You have Bullous Retinoschisis. ?? Silence. Chirping Crickets. It was a this point, Dr. Chexal proceeded to explain in plain english and not doc speak what this is. She used the pictures to show us the tearing of my retina. She went through what the prognosis would be, next steps and outcomes. Very specific and even discussed options. I was asymptomatic, so there was no immediate action to be taken. Unlike my ophthalmologist who literally told me not to drink or eat anything after mid-night since I could be having surgery the next day of my appointment. She scheduled my next appointment for 2 months out. I like how she said she wanted to get to know my eyes and monitor the progress. I liked her own big brown eyes and how she made sure to keep continued eye contact with me and Suzie as she explained everything. Suzie commented that she really liked the place since there was lots of laughter and folks were generally real people who seemed to be enjoying their jobs.
