Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Atkins, MD

Sarah Atkins, MD MPH was born in Indiana, but grew up in Raleigh. She attended Washington University in St. Louis for college and returned to the University of North Carolina School of Medicine where she earned her MD and Masters in Public Health. She completed her pediatrics residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After residency, she served an additional year as Chief Resident of the pediatrics residency program at UAB. She and her husband, Matt, decided to return home to family and friends in North Carolina in 2009 when she joined Growing Child Pediatrics. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Sarah met her husband, who is an anesthesiologist in Raleigh in medical school at UNC. She has two beautiful sons, Leyton and Beckett. In her free time, Dr. Atkins enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling, cooking, and UNC basketball. Her clinical interests include asthma and child development.
