Dr. Sarah Morris Axel, MD

My family has been seeing Dr. Axel since we switched from another pediatrician nearly 10 years ago and she's a fantastic pediatrician. She is very, very smart, and tells it like it is. I have friends who think she's abrupt, but I love how straightforward she is. She speaks to you like you're an intelligent human being, and is never patronizing, unlike many other doctors I've seen over the course of my life. She spends a long time with each patient, which does mean that her appointments can run long and so you usually wait in the waiting room for a long time. That is annoying, but if you plan for it then it's okay. And I think that she then spends plenty of time with you, instead of being rushed, makes up for it. She caught some developmental issues with one of my daughters that I think would not have been noticed in a shorter and less careful appointment. The nurses and staff are also great. The women at the front desk know the name of every kid who comes in.

No bedside manner, never has had.... Rude, dismissive

We did not like our first pediatrician (at another practice) but time was short to find a new one, so we picked Dr. Axel randomly. She is wonderful. I never feel rushed during our appointments with her: she spends a long time talking with me and observing my children. She is up front about her opinions, but still respectful of mine, and never condescending. She has seemed very well informed about every issue that has come up, frequently giving me handouts either that she has written or photocopied from medical journals. The office staff and the nurses are wonderful, too. Friends who see any of the doctors at Cohasset Pediatrics all say that there is such a difference from other pediatric practices they have gone to.Sometimes the wait is a bit long, but I chalk that up to how long she spends with each of her patients. I would rather wait 15 minutes in the waiting room than be rushed through an appointment when it is our turn and have her miss something or have me not be able to… ask questions.
