Dr. Sarah Gernhart, MD

Did not like her at all. Maybe since I was a younger mom she felt like she didn’t have to treat me with respect. Basically told me I was a bad mom just because I didn’t call her right away when I lost my mucus plug . Was never in the office was always on vacation and when she did come to appointments it seemed she had no time and rushed out. Just glad that she was on vacation when I went into labor so I got a different doctor to deliver my baby. Was definitely not the right fit for my family and won’t be going back for my next kid.

I have been going to her for about 12 years. She delivered both of my daughters. She is just the best OB ever!!

Dr Gernhart delivered all of my babies. At first, I loved her! She What is the top rated and I wanted her to be my Dr. so bad. She excepted me as a patient and things were great, I loved her sass and personality, she was always there on time, she was very easy-going and always told me when I needed to hear. Over my next pregnancy, I had more complications with her...things get lazier, long wait times, always hearing about her amazing vacations. In my last pregnancy, I did not see her once and on delivery day, she had a student deliver like she didn’t even care. She forgot to deliver my cousins placenta entirely and they said she was busy texting instead. The girl works hard-she earned that but maybe time to retire or cut hours if that’s what life’s about now.

I can’t stress enough how awesome Dr Gernhart is. She’s sassy and a spitfire but that’s what I love most about her. She takes the stress of pregnancy off of you. I’ve been told it’s rare for a woman to say pregnancy / delivery is fun and it’s because of this woman. She knows her stuff and she tells you like it is. I wouldn’t trust anyone more than her. I’m actually getting depressed (in a positive way) realizing I potentially have only one more pregnancy experience with her. Words don’t justify the way she practices. I was high risk this time and very Perinatal doctor I had spoke highly of her. My sons ENT knows her and even speaks highly of her. I’ve never come across a person who doesn’t have something positive to say about Dr Gernhart. So hopefully she gets to see this and I want to her to know how thankful not only I am, but my sister and mother are to have her! ??

Dr. Gernhart is a very compassionate dr. She delivered all 3 of my children. No matter what happens she has been there. She is an awsome listener. When my youngest passed her and her nurse called and checked on me. As well as had me come in. Just because she wanted to make sure I was doing ok. She take her job to heart and she cares about each of her patients and families. I will not go to a Any other dr. She is straight up honest. She is real.

I had her as the on duty OB at Methodist last night. I am 34 weeks pregnant and was having contractions 3 minutes apart. I was given shots to stop the contractions but they just moved to my back. In the course of her short time in my room she told me I can't be having contractions because I was still talking and they were no longer showing on the monitor, that my OB's shouldn't have delivered my kids by c-section. One is my current OB again and works for Methodist. She questioned my previous and current OB's and Perinatologist's diagnosis of Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy. She told me if I was in labor I would dilate even though I did not with my past two pregnancies and was told by the head of the Methodist Women's Center while laboring with my son that I needed to have a c-section because I would not dilate due to scar tissue. She essentially rudely questioned me about everything and made me feel as if I had to defend myself. The final thing she told me was I can either stay… and be checked again in 3 hours then sent home or go home then. We opted to leave immediately. I would not recommend her to anyone and will refuse to be seen by this Dr in the future. I have never had such horrible treatment. This is in no way a reflection of Methodist as I have had nothing but good experiences prior to this one.

I loved her at first, and she delivered my two kids, but I have never been a fan of the long wait times. I feel over time she's gotten more rude, at times with downright poor bedside manner and leaving me to feel bad about the visit. She's all about money and her main money-maker is OB. After 8 years I'm not going back and I don't recommend her even though she's popular. She's very smart and not all bad, but not a good fit for me.

Dr. Gernhart has poor bedside manner, doesn't care about her patients just one more equals more money. Terrible.

You do not want her as your Dr. She is very rude and tries to act too cool. Saying "what up" when she walks in to the room is somewhat unprofessional. She was not compassionate, did not take time to answer questions and made you feel stupid when you did. Being a first time mom, this is not what I should've experienced. She was too busy worrying about her Vegas and Mexico trips rather than delivering my baby. Badmouthing other nurses in other delivery rooms was uncalled for too. It's all about Dr. Gernhart, not her patients.

I have mixed feelings on Dr Gernhart. I've been going to her for close to a decade and she delivered my 2 sons. The Good: She is lively and friendly and seems like someone you would like to be friends with. At times she has demonstrated compassion and what I feel is a genuine caring for patients. The Bad: long wait times, almost always 30-45 mins past scheduled appt time. She has occasionaly made comments I felt were slightly rude, though I'm sure she thought she was being funny. Sometimes I felt she was rushed and couldn't spend as much time with me. I also very strongly felt that she persuaded me to have C-sections with both my boys (knowing I wanted vaginal) because she preferred it, not because it was medically necessary. I cannot prove this, and my sons are healthy which is what matters most, but just due to some of the comments she made and the way she made them made me think she had alterior motives for suggesting csection. I almost looked for another OB after my 1st son was… born but put it off and ended up staying with her for my 2nd just because I was too lazy to search for another dr. Now that I don't plan to have any more kids I may stay with her because I will only have to see her once a year, which is fine. If I ever did get pregnant again and would have to see her frequently I would consider switching though it would not be absolutely necessary.
