Dr. Sarah Marie Hughes, DO

Dr. Hughes is a brilliant doctor and she takes the time to really listen to her patients. You can tell that she genuinely cares about your well being and her compassion shows. Dr. Hughes also impressed me with her down to earth mannerisms and how well she interacted with and treated the other hospital staff....nurses, clerks, medical students, etc. I could tell that she was well liked and respected by all.

Dr. Hughes is incredibly passionate about caring for her patients. She recently took care of me at Bronson Hospital and I was so impressed by the fact that she sat down and genuinely listened to me for over 30 minutes. Her pager was going off a mile a minute, but she gave me her undivided attention. She correctly diagnosed me and my treatment plan continues to be successful. I was so fortunate to have her as my physician and I would recommend her to everyone!

Dr. Hughes took care of my husband in the ICU and I was so impressed with her calm nature and medical knowledge. During a very stressful time for our family, Dr. Hughes demonstrated immense apathy and concern for our family. She gave us frequent updates on my husband's status and she was fair, open, and non-judgemental whenever our family needed to make decisions about the medical care of our loved one. I have never met a young, more professional physician before and I was proud to see a woman achieve such sincere respect from her colleagues in the male-dominated field of medicine.

Dr. Hughes is an amazing physician! She listens and really cares about your health and emotional well-being!

it is not easy to get an appt with dr. hughes because she is a DO and does really great adjustments but if a patient is truly in medical need she will make sure she sees the patient when he/she need to be seen. as a physician she has gone out of her way many times to care for her patients as people who need help and will always listen to the patient's input and involve them in their own treatment. she won't try to convince a patient to undergo a treatment that, after explanation and discussion, they still do not want. she will work to find other options and when in the patient's best interest is not afraid to ask for opinions and/or clinical assistance from experienced and educated colleagues and is willing, even compelled, to continuously try and find a treatment that works for the patient. She is always available to her patients to speak to when medically or practically necessary and will spend the amount of time a patient needs for treatment during the appointment even if it is… lengthy and will not try to rush or appear impatient, even if it is after office closing time. She has more empathy, compassion, common sense, intelligence, and education (not only formal but practical as well) than all residents at this practice for low-income patients and all but one of the attending physicians (who happens to be the attending she works with). as a patient i have never been treated with more dignity and respect by a physician (much less a resident) than dr. hughes and her attending physician, dr. haughn.
