Dr. Sarah Eliza Mattson, MD

After seeing Dr. Mattson for the first 6 months of my pregnancy, I decided to switch doctors. Throughout those first 6 months, I found Dr. Mattson to be fairly abrupt and harsh, occasionally condescending. The final straw for switching doctors was when she dismissed all of my concerns and made me feel silly for asking questions. As a first time mom and someone with anxiety, I couldn't be more glad that I switched to another practice. I finally feel listened to and at ease.

I started seeing Dr. Mattson after the OB-GYN who delivered my first son retired. I was pregnant with my second and Dr. Mattson was very focused on my weight, which was the same as when I was pregnant with my first son (and that was a totally normal pregnancy that ended with a healthy baby). At each appointment, Dr. Mattson used scare tactics to talk to me about the dangers of being pregnant while overweight, even when they were visibly distressing me. I never got the impression that she thought I would have a successful pregnancy, and worried that her biases would lead to unnecessary interventions like a c-section. I changed obstetricians and do not regret my decision at all.

Dr. Mattson was very pleasant and made me feel comfortable enough to ask her some embarrassing questions. I also think the office is beautiful. It took my mind off the visit. I felt like I was in a boutique.
