Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Monahan-Estes, MD

this dr took great care of my daughter in mission hospital in asheville north carolina. i reccomend that anyone in need of a good pediatrician give this dr a call SHE IS AWESOME!

In her role as a fellow in Protective Services at Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital in 2010, Dr. Monahan-Estes could definitely use some training in human relations. Based on my experience with her,she appears to be more concerned with protecting other physicians than the health and welfare of infants. From the very beginning she concentrated on accusing a distraught mother of an infant of child abuse and neglect rather than attending to the serious medical needs of a young infant. From the time of the child's hospital admittance, the child was allowed to go without food for over twenty-four hours! Only the attending head pediatric surgeon gave an adequate reason for the above mentioned "starvation". No explanation for an excessive number of X-rays or Cat-Scans was ever given by Dr. Monahan. Her threatening tactics and relentless Gestapo questioning had more in common with the"Star Chamber" than that of a caring physician. Since when to parents lose all civil liberties when… the enter a hospital. She informed us on several occasions that our permission was not needed for medical procedures! X-rays and other evasive procedures would be done with or without the mother's permissions. The child's mother and family was subjected to a physician who seemed to have more concern for furthering her career than the very serious needs of the infant patient. Medical explanations were rarely given and she had a knack for appearing at the worst of times. I would not recommend this physician.However the medical staff at Children's Memorial Hospital are excellent.
