Dr. Sarah Louise Pickering Beers, MD

I had an awful experience with Dr. Pickering-Beers at Cleveland Clinic and do not recommend this person as a provider. She ordered an at-home sleep study for me to complete given my symptoms. When I met with her to discuss the results, it was clear she did not understand how to interpret or explain the results. She read the last line of the report, which said “the result was inconclusive, cannot confirm or deny the presence of a sleep disorder.” I asked if she can tell me more about what the study measured, and she repeated, “Well…it says inconclusive, so I can’t say anything about what might be interfering with your sleep.” Next, I asked her if there are any recommendations she has that I can make to improve the quality of my sleep. She gave me a blank stare, and said, “I mean…basic sleep stuff, you know….don’t go to bed too late maybe?” It is seriously concerning to me that this person is considered a Primary Care Provider at the Cleveland Clinic. Two weeks after this follow-up… appointment, I received a bill from the Cleveland Clinic for $800.00 for the sleep study (which, I repeat, did not yield any results). I called the billing department, who said I need to first speak with my provider. I called my provider’s office, and was promised a call-back from her nurse. I did not receive a call back. After my third attempt to get into contact with the provider, I was told I cannot speak to my doctor or her nurse without making a formal appointment. So, instead I messaged my doctor on MyChart about the billing issue and asked if a letter or further documentation could be written to explain the circumstances. She told me that she doesn’t deal with that and I need to figure it out on my own. Poor communication, negligence of patient care, uneducated and uninformed about common medical concerns. I am very disappointed with the lack of care I received at Cleveland Clinic. I felt discarded, misled, and manipulated into paying for a provider that shows no compassion or concern for my health.
