Dr. Savitri Sundaram, MD

I've been seeing this doctor since I was 15 or 16 (I'm 21 now) and honestly I've had ENOUGH. Never going back to her again. Has never spent more than 5 minutes with me, I don't think she even knows what's wrong with me. Would not prescribe me any potentionally addictive medications for my chronic anxiety that I've suffered with since I was TWO but prescribes me Adderall because I have slight focusing issues due to depression? Says because I am functioning and going to work everyday means my self harm thoughts cannot be "that bad". Has nothing to say to my severe diagnosed bipolar symptoms besides "mhm". Least professional doctor I've ever seen in my life. No bedside manner which never bothered me THAT much because I really just want to get better, but there are people with severe issues and sensitivity who I can't imagine the reaction and hurt they must feel. Constantly have had issues not having enough medication between appointments and it is HASSLE to even try to get someone to… answer the phone never the less get a few pills called in to my pharmacy. I would never recommend seeing this psychiatrist to anyone and I will not be seeing her again. I can't believe I've stuck with her this long hoping she would finally listen to my symptoms and what is really important to ME. Your top priority should always be the patient, not the pills you want to push on them to make more money. I am disgusted and in shock with the things she has said to me.

Not only was she completely uninterested in answering my questions, she flat out refused to talk to me about the specifics of the BRAND NEW (i.e. we don't 100% know how they work or what their side effects are yet) medication that she wanted me to try. It was an SSRI which I begged her not to prescribe to me (I have tried 4 with very negative side effects). She actually became combative and yelled at me in the appointment room. The second time I had to bring a friend for moral support because she just left me crying and feeling hopeless. Worst bedside manner I have ever seen from a psychiatrist. Needless to say I did not go back a third time. I'm horrified by how she treated me (as if I were completely stupid and didn't even know my own body or symptoms or the side effects I had previously experienced). She gave me no respect whatsoever, and I don't believe she deserves any in return.

I think the only reason I could get an appointment quickly is because she's a horrible doctor. She never returns phone calls, spends about 10 minutes with you and actually opens her mail while you're in session with her. She truly acts like she can't be bothered with you. She doesn't want to answer questions and completely ignores or dismisses any patient input. I could not run away fast enough.
