Dr. Savreet Sarkaria, MD

As one of the patients who have been treated by Dr. Sarkaria, I have to say that I felt disrespected by this doctor. She constantly made me feel small by making unnecessary remarks that had nothing to do with the diagnosis or treatment and belittled my symptoms and concerns. As a doctor, I truly believe that one of the most important characteristic that you should own is a sense of empathy and care, which this doctor lacks in. I truly hope she learns her lessons and stops putting patients down.

My father was having a "routine" procedure, but died on the operating table due to a "puncture" wound inflicted by the doctor. I will never forget and will always blame Dr. Sarkaria for his death.

She is patient, trustworthy, knowledgeable and a excellent skilled doctor. She acknowledged all my concerns and was able to help me with my problem. After visiting 2 other doctors with no help, Dr. Sarkaria found I was suffering from Hpylori. She will even respond to emails and has called during an emergency after office hours. Not many doctors do that!!

She is The Best doctor!! She has the best bedside manner. She is also brilliant. I have trusted her with my life.

Dr. Sarkaria is an extremely thorough doctor. She reviews everything and makes sure what is being conveyed is understood. She has a wonderful bedside manner and makes frightening procedures endurable. She is prompt and if there is any delay she informs you of such and why. I highly recommend her to anyone needing a great gastroenterologist. More doctors should be like her, it would make the medical profession a better profession.

I just had my third colonoscopy with Dr. Sarkaria. She has relocated from the Weill Cornell Hospital to New York Gastroenterology Associates. Because of this, she is able to function better than ever. The staff, the office organization, the office technology--everything is SO MUCH better than it was at Weill. She gets her messages now, and there's no long WAIT to see her as there was at Weill Cornell because of their scheduling issues. Everything is perfect! Dr. Sarkaria was always one of my very favorite doctors, but now that all the staff and scheduling problems have been eliminated due to her relocating to another office, seeing her is better than ever. She's a wonderful, caring, extremely exceptional, one-of-a-kind physician. I know I don't need to plug her because there's no shortage of patients waiting to see her, but I wanted to. The staff at New York Gastroenterology Associates is also exceptional--very courteous, sharp and clear.

I have been seeing Dr. Sarkaria every six months for the last 5 years. I have seen my fair share of doctors. I've had some crazy medical issues, including one really strange one found by Dr. Sarkaria. She saved my life, in fact. She is the nicest, smartest, most detail-oriented doctor I have ever met. She will review everything with you, from every document you sign, to every procedure, including the risks/benefits of everything, down to the most minute detail. She won't do procedures just because she can, or as a CYA (like many other doctors). Instead, she takes the time to evaluate what makes sense and what doesn't. She is also at the top of her game w/r/t medical technology. When I was hospitalized under the care of a different doctor, she always stopped by to review my chart, say hi, and see what she could do for me. I've called her late nights and on the weekends with emergencies, and she always takes the time (very much time) to deal with whatever questions or issues I have. I'm… nervous to recommend her only because I know she's swamped with patients already. She is hands down the finest doctor I have ever been to.

Savreet seemed to truly care and listen to my problems. I would recommend her any day. I hope my problems go away, but I want to keep in touch anyway!

She called my Dad's case "non-urgent",had him take the train home from NYC to NJ (3 hr ride) and then scheduled him to come back 2 weeks later, then said "No trace of cancer". Basically mis-diagnosed him. Due to that we waited and then had to re-do (3rd round of ERCP/invasive tests) and ultimately found he was Stage 4 Bile duct cancer. I believe her mis-diagnosis lent to delays and head-spinning reviews that took place too late. He passed away in the Cornell hospital - he never made it out of ICU for 34 days. I spent so much time and money seeking "the best" and got the worst outcome. She doesn't care.

I have seen several doctors prior to her, she was the only one who listened to me and spent the time to figure out what was wrong with me.
