Dr. Sayeed Ikramuddin, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Ikramuddin since Jan 2002 when he did my RNY. I researched him thoroughly when I found out he was moving to Minnesota. And because I wanted the best, I waited to go through the process until he was here. He is incredibly knowledgeable, maintains an outstanding reputation amongst his peers and has a sincere bedside manner. He truly cares about his patients. Yes, it takes a long time to get an appointment. Yes, you have to jump through hoops for your insurance company. Yes, you'll likely need to set aside a few hours for each appointment. His office is busy. His office is backlogged. They honestly do their best and the staff has always been courteous. But if you know going into this, that you WILL have to set blocks of time aside, it really isn't an issue. I would wait all day if I had to. He is THAT good. Let's face it, you are there for life changing surgery, not an oil change. Do you want the best, or you want the Pinterest "Nailed It" version? He is… without a doubt, the best in his field. He saved my life, then made it better. And I can't thank him enough.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ikramuddin for the last 7 years. I feel that I always received good care and he answered all of my questions. It is true that the staff does most of the work, but I feel like that was to be expected.

I also had a similar infection as stated in previous a comment from a different patient. I nearly died (even coma). He saved my life. He is a wonderful Dr.

I am very happy with the choice I made with Dr. Ikramuddin. He is very knowledgeable in his medical field. I have been going to the univ. Appts with him for the past 5 1/2 yrs.

He is very nice and personable and appears to care much about the patient. He also is a talented surgeon. However, he gives his patients very little of his time and relies on his nurses, residents, and fellows to do his work. Also, he only does a very small part of the surgeries himself, if at all. Read the waiver that you have to sign prior to Dr. Ikramuddin taking you to surgery, you thereby give permission that the students, residents, and fellow can perform the surgery instead of the actual provider that you have selected. The fellows, do most of Dr. Ikramuddin's surgeries! He just greats the patients and makes them comfortable. His real job is to work with the medical devise industry and bring in the money for the studies that he wants to do. This doc is all about the money and what he can learn from your surgery outcome. He does not care about the individual patient! This is a big deal since one of Dr. Ikramuddin's studies showed that complications caused by the surgery… increase if the surgeon has performed less than 300 surgeries. Therefore, if you want Dr. Ikramuddin to do your surgery himself, do not sign this waiver, instead make him sign a contract that he will do your surgery from the first cut to the last staple/stitch. Also, consult with an independent weight management clinic to assess whether you are really a good candidate for bariatric surgery, do not rely on the surgeon's team to make this assessment, they will clear you for surgery and take your money whenever they can. You have to live with the complications and consequences, Dr. Ikramuddin gets paid no matter what.

I had serious complications from a gastric bypass with a different bariatric surgeon. I contracted septosemia, an infection in the blood, along with a gastric leak and MRSA. I was transferred to Dr. Ikranuddin, the best way ti out it, HE SAVED MY LIFE! I almost died because of the previous infection, but this awesome doctor saved me from death. I wouldn't be here today if he had not accepted me as a patient. I owe him my life. Because of the excellent care of Dr. Ikramuddin and his amazing staff, I have completely recovered with no complications. And I have my life back. I can eat anything and the only thing I have to show from my whole ordeal is a scar on my abdomen. I am living a full and happy life. Simply put, Dr. Ikramuddin saved my life and my future. Dr. Sayeed Ikramuddin, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for saving me, and giving me back my hope, my health, and my life. Just thank you, you are my guardian angel, and I would not be here today if it wasn't for… you.
