Dr. Scott Lawrence Abramson, MD

My PCP gave me a referral for persistent lower back pain. He was decent during that first visit but I had my husband with me. After several months of P. T. It was much better. Then I injured my back at work and was sent back to him. This time was different. His entire focus was on pain meds...what was given, by whom ect...Sadly this so called MD was 100% wrong with his accusations and would not allow me to speak. I could go on and on but I won’t. Just know if you are ever treated poorly by any healthcare professional - just walk out. I did and he followed me making derogatory remarks it was unbelievable. I will never forget how he treated me and feel sorry for him. Now I don’t ever go to a medical appointment alone. Bring a witness you will be treated much better.

Though I have only seen Dr. Abramson once he was excellent at giving me a synopsis of my problem and was able to give me some hope.

I wish you could give zero stars I was not treated with respect at any appointment I went to with Dr. Abramson. I had nerve damage after an ankle reconstruction surgery and was sent to see him for pain management. I did not want to be put on Gabbapentin or anything that family as I had had a bad experience in the past. He did not take my condition seriously telling me to "look around the hospital, I was in better shape than a lot of people in there." I was in my early twenties, and had previously run 10 miles a week, it was not extremely painful to put my foot on the floor, let alone walk. After a heated debate he gave me no other option than Neurontin (Gabbapentin), I took it, putting my trust in him. I had a horrible reaction resulting in a 15 pound weight gain in 10 days, out of body experiences, tinnitus. But I could walk. I reported side effects as I got them by phone and was told that it was that medication or nothing and that I would get used to the side effects. I bedded for… an alternative as stopping the medication meant a huge decrease in mobility for me (I'd be back in a boot and on crutches). The sudden weight gain caused me to have high intercrainal pressure and had to get a shunt put in. I saw another physiatrist in Boston who put me one Lidoderm patches and Meloxicam which made it tolerable for me to walk again. This man ruined 3 years of my life (it took that long to diagnose the intercranial pressure) and I will have a shunt for the rest of my life that needs regular adjusting. Boston is only an hour away, take the drive, and get someone that cares about your wellbeing, not just billing your insurance.
