Dr. Scott Francis Allen, MD

Dr. Allen takes excellent care of my mother who has advanced coronary disease. He is a highly skilled cardiologist (performed 2 stents on our mom) with an excellent clinical sense and bedside manner. He is as compassionate as he is competent and explains things patiently. Our mom is lucky to have him as her cardiologist. He is a gem!

We found Dr Allen by a stroke of good luck! Dr Allen took the time to both explain and reassure us concerning my husband’s treatment and answered all our questions. Dr Allen Even took the time to come back and answer the questions we forgot to ask the first time. It is wonderful to know my husband is in such good hands.

When someone is working on my heart I want talent. After dealing with Dr. Allen and his team for my recent cardiac procedure I will tell you that I would be comfortable allowing he and his team to do any procedure needed. Skilled, knowledgeable and professional. What else can I say. Thank you Dr. Allen and team.

Walked into the room and had no chart in hand. I am an established patient at Heart Center and Have had very good experiences in past with the PA Sara and Dr. Halon. Halon had to reschedule my appointment so was rescheduled with Dr. Allen. I left feeling terrible. I had been previous diagnosed by primary care and Dr. Halon as having Tachycardia and they were very concerned and was put on meds to lower heart rate. This Dr. Allen said the problem with patients today is they are constantly looking at there iwatch and fit bits and they should delete the aps and throw them away. He said so what if you have a high heart rate of 100 resting and 136 and 180. Did you ever stop to think that you were born that way. I said I did some research on google about high heart rate and it is not good for you. He said do you want google to be your Dr. or me. He said you should not be here. There is no reason for you to be a heart patient. I am not putting down for you to come back here. He… said the problem with patients is they look at these watches all day and it causes the high heart rate. He said you do not need medicine. Drs. here at the heart center end up prescribing meds for patients to lower there heart rate just to pacify them. He would not let me talk, he would not answer questions about my test when I got one question is he berated me to the point of making me feel stupid. The previous appointment before meeting this guy they were increasing my meds. He refused to give me meds. he said you patients just want a pill to fix everything when you are overweight and don't exercise. He laughed at me when I asked him about when to go to the emergency room. I said how high can my heart rate be before I go to the ER. I had read that over 180 should seek help. He said never go to the ER unless you are having chest pains. I had an appointment the same day after seeing this guy with my primary care. She said I need to be on meds. she said high heart rate which she clocked me at 136 sitting still can cause damage to the heart muscle and cause it to change. She said she would never refer any patients to this guy. He should not be in medicine. I am filling a formal complaint with DPR in the next days. Came home in tears. Have never been treated so bad by a DR. no compassion , no care, just Dr. Scott Allen making fun of me and yelling at me and telling me not to come back.

I read 2 negative reviews here and had to add my 2 cents. I find Scott to be a thoughtful attentive physician who takes time to listen and is conservative in his treatment approaches. I would recommend him to anyone seeking a solid cardiologist.

He has a holier than thou personna. Comes across like hes doing you a favor by gracig you with his presencce, I unfortunately had to reschedule a heart cath and wound up with him. What he told me and his written diagnosis was quite different...severe stenosis and he recommended meds rather than resolving during cath? He recommended same med I was on before that didnt work. Waiting to get into different cardio and have app. to see a different team of doctors, 5+years is long enough!

Arrogant, unsympathetic, defensive. Worst experience dealing with a medical professional EVER. No communication skills. Do yourself a favor, steer clear. Choose another Doctor in this group. This is not a sour grapes review. This is an honest assessment of my experience.
