Dr. Scott Bernard Becker, MD

I've been seeing Dr. Becker for about 12 years for glaucoma. The appointments run on schedule about 70% of the time, but that's entirely understandable since there are sometimes patients ahead of me that take longer than anticipated. Occasionally, I've had to wait more than 30 minutes past the scheduled time before being taken in. But I think that if a doctor is always "on time", then he's probably rushing some of his appointments. Nearly all of the assistants have been at the office for over a decade. Low turnover is a good sign in a doctor's office. Dr. Becker doesn't rush appointments but he doesn't waste time either. He is always warm and friendly while sticking to the subject at hand -- which is usually the patient's vision. He always asks "Do you have any more questions?" before I leave. He explains his findings at each visit and if I want more detail, he's always happy to explain further. Prior to seeing Dr. Becker, I had been going to another opthomologist… for about 3 years, but I'd wait two hours to see him and then the actual visit with the doctor was rushed. Also, the turnover at his office was very high -- always new assistants with each visit and none of them seemed very competent. I switched to another opthomologist who was very good but the wait time got to be outrageous because he would schedule all of his patients for 9 a.m. or 1 p.m., which was crazy. So now I've stayed with Dr. Becker for the last 12 years. and been very pleased with the care that I'm receiving. Dr. Becker also took care of my wife's cateracts. Everything went textbook perfect and she now has nearly 20/20 vision in both eyes for distance while also having the best near vision of her life.

I saw Dr. Becker in lieu of my normal doctor because my normal doctor was on vacation. I presented with symptoms of retinal flashing. I had previously had a trabeculectomy for Glaucoma. My normal eye pressure was 8. During my visit my pressure was measured as 5. I expressed my concern but Dr. Becker ignored me and my low pressure. My pressure had been measured a week earlier as 8. Dr. Becker said everything was fine and to make an appointment with my regular doctor in 3 months. Thank God I was not satisfied. I made an appointment with a Glaucoma specialist who detected a leak in my Trabaculectomy bleb and will be performing surgery this week. My pressure is now <2. I would not have made it for Dr. Beckers 3 months

Dr. Becker correctly diagnosed the issue in my one eye. When I stated that the issue was causing headaches he was dismissive and stated the headaches were "psychological." I went for a second opinion and was diagnosed with a mass in my other eye. I am currently waiting to find out if the mass is cancerous what my treatment options are. I would not recommend Dr. Becker for anything more than eye glass prescriptions.

I arrived for my appointment ten minutes early. It wasn't until 15 minutes past the start of my 11:45 am appointment that I was called back by a tech. She did some preliminary questioning and stuck eye drops into each eye. Now I am waiting again in a different waiting area to see the doctor. My appointment was for over an hour ago. Anyone with a job or another place to be should NOT schedule an appointment with this doctor.

I was referred to him since the doctor I was seeing retired. I think is is a good doctor to go see because he is very laid back and very caring and he seems to know his profession
