Dr. Scott Russell Bishop, MD

Dr. Bishop is the best in our area! I have been to a few doctors (trying to find one that works for me and my family) and have finally found one! He has awesome bedside manner, gives detailed information about the illness/affliction, and gives great advice on what to do or how to take care of the situation. Thank you for all you do, Dr. Bishop!!

With a family of six and having always lived in Davis county, I have grown to love and appreciate so many things about Tanner Clinic. This is a place I choose to take my family. I definitely have my favorite doctors but one that has been EXTREMELY helpful and professional is Dr. Scott Bishop. He has been treating my son who has had a very rough year with a concussion and many other complications. Not only has Dr. Bishop been so willing to help WHENEVER needed, but even as other doctors have been less than helpful, he has stepped in and made us feel comfortable and given peace of mind to a stressed and extremely worried mother. There have been many times that he has gone above and beyond the call of duty in making my son feel at ease. He has been able to get a stubborn, quiet 14 year old, teenage boy to open up and express his feelings when others could not. He is ALWAYS willing to see us, even if it is to hear the concerns of a worried mother, without an appointment! This past year has… been quite trying on many levels but one thing has always been a constant, and that is the comfort of having Dr. Bishop in our corner. I have been so confident in all that he has suggested and in his treatment of my son, that now I take my whole family to him and I NEVER hesitate to refer anyone I know to him. I know that a few of my coworkers have been to him and have expressed the same sentiments as I have and felt he was very helpful and listened carefully to their concerns. Although we LOVE Dr. Bishop, I must say that his Medical Assistant, Sharon is a huge part of why we love him also. She has become a welcome, friendly, face that always puts me at ease. She is helpful and so kind and I consider her a friend. I would never hesitate, and haven't, to refer anyone I know to see Dr. Bishop.

I came to Dr. Bishop in a time of need. I was (and still am) extremly ill with influenza B. I mentioned that I was in intense, intense pain multiple times. So much pain, in fact, that it lead me to vomit right there in the exam room into the garbage can. They tested me for flu and assured me the test would only take 15 minutes. 25 minutes later he came back with a positive flu test. He told me it was viral so there is no need for antibiotics. I understood that clearly and appreciate not over-using antibiotics. He then proceeded to tell me it would last 5-7 days, get rest, and drink lots of clear fluids. When I asked him for something for the pain he looked me straight in the eyes and said, "I'm NOT prescribing a narcotic for this". I told him I didn't necessarily need a narcotic, just something different than Tylenol and Ibuprofen WHICH WERE NOT WORKING! I told him I was getting very little sleep and that Tylenol and Motrin weren't working- at all. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being… the worst pain I have ever felt, my pain was a 9. Easily. He simply said to still use Tylenol and Motrin. No compassion whatsoever. None. It was all I could do to get out of there before I burst into tears I was hurting so intensely. He was extremely unhelpful, uncaring, and disrespectful. Never- will I see him again. As a doctor, he dropped the ball- big time. I needed help. He gave me none.

I went in to see Dr. Bishop for a severe sore throat and was given a strep test and an antibiotics prescription. My appointment went ok but he seemed bothered to be there. My one year old was sitting on my lap and had also been feeling ill, so I asked him if he thought she might have the same sickness as me. He checked her ears and looked in her throat, then told me to keep an eye on her and bring her back in if she got worse. No diagnosis, no prescriptions, suggestions on how I might help her to feel better, nothing. When the bill came I saw another charge for almost 100 dollars for my daughter's "appointment". After disputing the charge I found that he had written up notes with a diagnosis of 'upper respiratory infection", a diagnosis that was NOT given to me. If she indeed had an infection, why didn't he prescribe something, or tell me, or give me advice on how to help her?? The diagnosis was written down for the sole purpose of being able to legally charge us for the visit. … 90 dollars for him for less than a minute of 'care' and absolutely no consultation or medical advice whatsoever. We are fortunate to be able to cover the bill but are extremely disheartened at the greed, dishonesty, and lack of compassion and courtesy that happened here, and that no doubt happens to others who seek fair and professional medical care.
