Dr. Scott Jay Cotler, MD

With my history with Dr Cotler, he is THE best hepatologist in regards to diagnosis accuracy, treatment plan, understanding the patient concerns, spending time discussing any concerns the patient may have, follow-up (he calls himself, not another on his staff, availability should an issue arise. He is a people person which shows throughout all his interactions with the patient. And, he is an all around good, caring person who takes each individual case seriously. As a patient, you are a person not just another case file. He and his partners in practice are some of the most brilliant doctors in their area of expertise.

I visited this doctor 2-3 times. He seems to have no time for you. I can read the lab or ultra should results myself however as a doctor I expect you to spend time to do analysis and try to find a treatment or solution. I waited months and prepared questions for him. He just doesnot care to talk openly. He seems narrow minded kind of doctor. He doesnot help me interpret the results better or find the cause. He never been prepared, Just gives a standard answer. He runs away when you try to ask questions. Very Strange! He sends a fellow grad from the university now a day to cover his time. I will not recommend him to anyone who wants good care.

I thought Dr. Cotler lacked any warmth or connection, which I found difficult given the serious and frightening nature of the situation with my liver. I switched doctors because I couldn't imagine seeing a doctor for the rest of my life that wouldn't respond to a joke or any of the fears I expressed to him - he was just all business. Clearly a very competent and smart doctor, just not empathetic. He didn't make me feel comfortable. And the office staff is often rude and acts like you're wasting their time. I've had them ignore me as I stand two feet from them at the front desk. So frustrating.

Outstanding physician. Caring and compasionate person.

Dr. Cotler is a very compassionate and caring physician. He is extremely knowledgable about liver disease. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a hepatologist.
