My family and I were deeply concerned about how my aunt’s condition was communicated to her while she was alone and not fully clear-headed. She was told she had 3–5 weeks to live, leading her to believe she was being admitted due to the progression of her lung cancer. In reality, she had developed septic shock from pneumonia, which was the immediate reason for her hospitalization. Believing she was near the end, she called her family in to say goodbye and made the decision to go home with hospice care. Thankfully, an internist later came in and clarified that while her overall prognosis hadn’t changed, she could choose to stay a couple more days and receive treatment for the pneumonia, which could help her feel significantly better before going home. We are grateful someone stepped in to provide that context and give her a more complete picture of her options. It’s critical that patients—especially those who are vulnerable or alone—receive clear, compassionate, and complete… information before making life-altering decisions.

Very arrogant, and will not let you get a word in. He told me, if I did not follow his treatment plain, I can find another doctor. WOW!!

Didn’t take time to explain risks vs benefits- just hooked her up for chemo.
