Dr. Scott Thomas Ekin, MD

Experiencing fear and confusion, I asked a friend to take me to the ED. I can see from my records that Dr. Ekin ran several diagnostics to find out what was causing my agitation and confusion. After some fluids were administered and I was able to sleep, Dr. Ekin entered the room and looked at me with disgust. He said I had lied to him. He was very contemptuous toward me, and said that my blood alcohol level was very high. Instead of coming back into the room concerned at why I might not have any memory of ingesting alcohol (I have a Disassociation Disorder), he chose to shame me. Firstly, abuse of alcohol is a medically recognized disease, and not something shameful. It is neurological, hormonal and accompanied by acute mental illness. Would he fat-shame a diabetic for being symptomatic? Instead of getting me help, he stigmatized me and said I wasted his time. I was sent home with no answers. As a provider myself, I consider his behavior unprofessional and extremely medically… irresponsible.

After a request of medical files from this doctor my family found that this doctor fabricated information during an emergency visit. While our father had significant pain he had no empathy and he had obvious swelling in his knees but he did not document that information. The doctor continued to use his writing skills to make it appear as if our father was not in pain. This is unfortunate we found this years later but the fact that it appears that he intentionally tried to minimize a situation is ridiculous.

I went in with kidney stones, worst kind of pain a guy could have. Lol Dr ekin was prompt and caring. Got my nausea and pain under control. He is even pretty funny. He jokingly told my girlfriend that one of the best remedies for stones was sexual intercourse LMAO she turned red as red can be. Gave me some nausea and pain med prescription to get me by for a few days until I had a procedure to have the kidney stones removed. Great experience ( as great as a er trip at midnight can be lol )
