Dr. Scott Mayer Friedman, MD

I have been a patient of Dr Friedman for over 10 years and his treatment of my Diabetes Retinopathy has been good. Dr Friedman is an elitist with a poor bedside manner. It came to a head for me in that I began to fear asking questions because I knew he would talk down to me. On my last visit I felt I was being forced to chose my best treatment and was belittled for asking for his opinion, as if I should understand the treatment options he was giving. No matter his skill, if I can’t speak to him, it’s time to move on.

Emergency surgery yesterday. Detached retina. I do not give a flying flip about his personality. He is a remarkable surgeon and I am grateful to him. His staff was great too. I am 60 years old and a medical professional. I never met him or heard of him before yesterday because I’m not from here. I have no personal reason to recommend this doctor. He is highly skilled, competent, and well qualified. I rate my overall experience as excellent. He was polite and appropriately friendly. If you want warm fuzzies and smiles go to Disneyworld. If you need a darn good eye surgeon, I recommend Dr. Friedman.

He missed a scar on my eye due to scissors puncture. Did not address the issue that was referred. A bubble/cyst, he did not find it until I showed him the report with graphics from referring opthamologist. My time was up he said he’d see me in six months. Not going to happen.

I am 87 years young and this guy was the worst Doctor I have ever had the displeasure to visit. AVOID !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can testify firsthand that all of the bad reviews about Dr. Friedman are true!!! Several years ago, I worked as a Nurse at a Local Hospital in Winter Haven Florida. Dr. Friedman was legendary for being a horrible person to work with in the operating room. Several patients have even had him writen up for yelling at the staff!!! His surgeon skills were below average and he would blame his bad skills on everything from the staff, instruments and even the hospital equipment. He has had over 7 partners, 6 Surgical techs, and several wives, in the last 10 years. That should speak for itself. He would be the last retina Doctor on the planet I would see. If you have to visit his practice for insurance reasons, ask for his partner Dr. Moinfar. Dr. Moinfar is sweet, kind, smart and a very good surgeon.

Very disrespectful personality. Poor result with him blaming everyone from hospital to staff to poor equipment. Takes no responsibility for his poor skill and disrespectful personality. Will never let him touch me or any family member.

I experienced the worst medical experience of my life with Dr. Scott Friedman. He was not patient or kind and he was always in a rush. The last time I saw him, he rushed so much that he gave me an injection in my eye before the anesthesia took effect. The pain was excruciating and he showed no compassion. Needless to say, I never went back to him again. I now see a doctor who is the complete opposite of Dr. Friedman. He always checks that the eye is completely numb before any injections. I still have nightmares about my traumatic experience with Dr. Friedman.
