Dr. Scott Russell Junkins, MD

I am absolutely appalled at my treatment at the hands of the front desk staff in this office. I suffer from extreme chronic pain and at the advice of my Primary Care Doctor have been trying to schedule an appointment with Dr Junkins for over two months. I have called many times, my Primary sent a referral and also emailed a note directly to the Doctor explaining the severity of my case. Weeks later, neither myself or my Doctor have heard anything back and when I call, all I get is voicemail. I hear Dr Junkins is a very good Physician, but sadly his services are being denied to potential patients by Pam and the front desk staff who are either incompetent or feel that they have the medical knowledge required to grant or deny services to patients. On the few occasions I was able to get through, I got the feeling that it is the new patients responsibility to prove they are not just wanting a prescription and are indeed a genuine case. It seems they operate on the basis that you're guilty… until proven innocent, which is beyond wrong. Both myself and my Primary made it quite clear that this appointment is just for a second opinion, no prescription expected, or required. It is my fundamental right as a patient with the required referral, to be able to make an appointment with Dr Junkins and to be denied this and treated in such an inhumane manner by front desk staff is bordering on criminal. I would suggest you avoid this office at all costs, which is a shame because I hear Dr Junkins is one of the best in his field.

Dr Junkins has done several procedures on me - I have had great results. I always have a lot of questions about my treatment and Dr Junkins always takes time to answer them. He is a great patient advocate taking time to deal with the Insurance companies foolishness.

After several trips to other Doctors, Dr. Junkins took the time to properly diagnose me and resolve my chronic pain. I cannot thank him enough. Excellent doctor.

Going to see this doctor and go through the process of receiving treatment from the University of Utah Pain Clinic was a complete waste of time and money. There are other clinics in the area that are not influenced by the politics of a University. Stay away from this one!
