Dr. Scott Thomas Landeck, MD

My Doctor told me to go over to the emergency room at Alta Bates Summit on 34th St. She told me to have the ER Doctor call her and she would explain what was going on. After waiting several hours being seen by a few other people to prepare me for the Doctor, he walked in and said something like "Why are you here today?" I had already explained my problem several times and was having a little trouble expressing myself. I started to explain when he stated, Low platelets are not a reason to be in the Hospital. At that point I felt like I had completely wasted everyone's time and was embarrassed. He kept asking me what he could do for me. I finally remembered that my Doctor told to have him call her so she could explain. His expression was blank all the time and he didn't examine me at all. He finally walked out of the room saying, "Okay, I'll call your Doctor. I told him he would have to call the after hours number which he would get from the number I gave him. He came back about 30… minutes later and said "I got her voicemail. It said she would call me back within 24 hours and walked out. I called the number myself and spoke to the on-call person. She told me she was alone and no Physician called. When I told the Doctor this he just shrugged his shoulders and said well what do you want me to do? I told him if he didn't know that I was leaving. I no longer felt safe at this facility and I left. This man needs to go back to school and learn how to interact with people under these circumstances. I give him a Big Fat Failure.

I was admitted to Alta Bates today after fainting during a routine procedure at another doctor's practice. Dr. Landeck was calm, reassuring and explained his diagnoses repeatedly to me and my husband. Upon returning home, I looked up the diagnosis online and was struck by how perspective he was. A lot of the details of how come this happens were listed and I didn't even mention most to him, e.g. that my head was elevated when I fainted, which might have contributed to this. So: thanks a lot Dr. Landeck!

Insensitive, gruff, impatient. When I told him I did not understand a question he asked about my debilitating back & nerve pain, he said 'I'll just take that as a no". When I said wait a minute, I'm not liking your style much right now, it seem like we've gotten off on the wrong foot, can we start over. His response was "I don't like you as well" I showed him my referral from a specialist doctor stating that I needed to have an MRI, Dr. Landeck just through the referral back at me, and said "No, setting it all up is very complicated and I don't think you warrant one. I'm discharging you. He didn't even give anywhere near a comprehensive exam - he just decided he did not like me & I was not worthy of care. Seriously, fire this fake doctor, or at least remind him that the health care system is also a customer service system - something that Non-Dr. Landeck should learn, or else get a job where he doesn't have to deal with people - especially people with acute pain.

This physician, seen in the emergency department did not introduce himself and was not interested understanding my problem. I was in acute pain and was brought into the ER by paramedics. Landeck did not listen to my complaint and was on his way out-of-the-door no sooner than he came in. He was terse and indifferent, and treated me as though he did not care about my suffering. Only after my relative complained to the charge nurse did he come in and lingered long enough to discuss my condition and give his likely diagnosis. He is the most insensitive physician ever seen in my entire life.
