Scott H. McClure MD is a Board Certified psychiatrist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adults and adolescents. His office is conveniently located in the Wells Fargo Tower in the heart of the downtown area. Ample public parking is available. He believes that proper treatment can only flow from accurate diagnosis. Therefore, the initial visit consists of a lengthy, detailed diagnostic interview, which occasionally may include family members and/or the evaluation of previous records, if indicated. He places an emphasis on understanding each person as a unique individual in the context of a complex and important life history. If medications are prescribed, the response is usually better when both the patient and the doctor feel that they have achieved a deeper level of understanding about the issues involved.
This level of evaluation/treatment is tailored to the needs of patients who are unhappy with "generic" approaches that are favored by managed care insurance …organizations, who try to force doctors to spend less and less time with patients. Our patients pay for services at the time of service. A monthly payment plan option is available using a qualified Visa or Mastercard as well. Our billing clerk will file a statement with your insurance company which indicates that the entire bill was paid by you, and the insurance company will be asked to mail a check to you for the amount that it would normally pay to one of it's "in network" doctors.
Areas of specialization include addictions, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, OCD, personality disorders, and schizophrenia. Dr. McClure is not only an expert diagnostician and psychopharmacologist, but he is also a very experienced psychotherapist. However, many of his patients are referred by other psychotherapists, with whom the patient will usually continue. Furthermore, Dr. McClure uses his extensive knowledge of community mental health resources to triage many patients to clinicians who are most appropriate to their particular needs and circumstances. Detailed typewritten reports may be generated to facilitate this process.
