Dr. Scott McGarr, DMD, was born and raised on Mt. Desert Island. He started his education at the University of Maine and from there continued on to Tufts School of Medical Dentistry where he graduated in the top 10 of his class.
After graduating, Dr. McGarr returned to Maine with his family to join the practice of Dr. Charles King, where he stayed for 18 years. During that time, Dr. McGarr became an active member of his community — involved with everything from his children's school to town politics. Dr. McGarr has always enjoyed the Maine life; he is an avid sailor, loves the outdoors, and in more recent years, you can usually find him riding horses across the countryside.
Dr. McGarr has become a 3-phase eventer and has discovered the joy of competition. He and his horse travel all over New England competing in 3-phase events, which include dressage, stadium jumping, and cross-country jumping. Scott and Rusty have become quite a well-known and recognizable pair on the circuit!
…In 1992, Dr. McGarr established Scott McGarr Family Dental Practice at 277 State Street in Bangor, Maine. This practice grew and became a dental practice that people could count on for not only professional dental treatment but also honesty and integrity.
In 2007, Dr. McGarr incorporated and renamed his growing practice Maine Family Dental Practice, PA, Inc. We maintain a professional philosophy that places the dental health of patients first.
