Summary

Dr. Scott J. McKnight, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in general ophthalmology, cataract and lens implant surgery, medical retina (including diabetic eye disorders), eyelid surgery, and glaucoma. He is known for premier no‑stitch, no‑patch cataract and lens implant procedures that emphasize rapid recovery and excellent visual outcomes.

Dr. McKnight earned his medical degree and completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Nebraska Medical School in Omaha, then completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri–Columbia. He began performing refractive surgery in 1989—starting with radial keratotomy—and was among the first surgeons in the Kansas City area to offer laser photorefractive surgery and Conductive Keratoplasty.

Active in the development and research of new implants and surgical techniques, Dr. McKnight trains surgeons from around the world in advanced cataract procedures and was the first surgeon in the country to place the newest multifocal implant. McKnight Eye Centers also offers Crystalens, an accommodating intraocular lens that works with the eye’s own muscles to improve vision at multiple distances; Dr. McKnight’s extensive refractive surgery experience combined with his advanced cataract techniques make him an excellent choice for cataract care in the Kansas City area.

Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews

Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.

Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.

Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
