Dr. Scott Christopher Otto, MD

I am a practicing physician and I am writing my experience as a patient of Dr. Otto . I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer two months ago and Dr. Otto was highly recommended to me by my PCP for colon surgery . He was all what was said about him and more . I met with him before my surgery in the hospital and he went in details and patiently through the procedure and the risks and alternatives. He answered all my questions . He immediately gained my trust with his confidence , passion and care. After the surgery he was there every day for the follow up making sure I am recovering well. I saw him again in his office for a follow up and had a great experience with the staff and again he made sure my recovery is going well and answered all my questions. My surgery was a success and I am forever grateful. I highly recommend Dr. Otto as a physician and as a patient .

Being myself a primary care physician, I always try to find the best specialists for my patients. I am referring most of my surgical patients to Dr. Scott Otto, and I always get an outstanding feedback from my patients , as a talented surgeon, and a wonderful person. Till last month, when I referred my sister for a major surgery of resecting a colon cancer. I had then a first hand experience of this talented exceptional surgeon, and a carteous, passionate person. Dr. Otto was highly recommended by my primary. At my first visit, he was noncommital and stated I needed to wait at least 6 months before he would schedule the surgery. I waited the required time and then scheduled the second appointment. The wait was extremely long, over an hour. He was again noncommittal regarding the surgery, but said if he obtained the surgical clearance from my other physicians, he would proceed. A month passed without word. I called his office twice to obtain status and was told two of my physicians had not responded back to Dr. Otto. In the interim, I had separate appointments with both physicians who stated they responded back to him weeks prior and cleared me for surgery. After no further word from Dr. Otto, I scheduled a different surgery which had became urgent during this period. My other surgeon scheduled the surgery within a week and obtained clearance from my other physicians without delay. I am now 2 weeks into post-surgery recovery and still… no word back from Dr. Otto. Needless to say, I am going to find another surgeon for my other surgery. The lack of follow-up, explanation, apology for the delay are all unprofessional and unacceptable.

I recently visited Dr. Otto for a consultation. It is very true that the moment he enters in the exam room, he puts patient at ease right away. He is very knowledgeable, listens to problems carefully and provides great advice. Some other patients have given him low rating due to long wait but if a surgeon is not thorough, it could be pretty bad for patients. Hopefully, no one is going for a a band-aid through drive=thru . I am impressed and highly recommend Dr. Otto!

Dr Otto was amazing! He puts you at ease as soon as he walks into the room. Very, very genuine. I knew before I met him that he was highly competent as I had been told that from people I know at the hospital, but to have competency mixed with genuine care and concern for you is a wonderful mix. And I was without pain that first week of recovery. I'd never had that before and I had a 5 inch incision! It was amazing. He is wonderful.

No one likes doctors, but Dr Otto earned my respect by dealing with me. I needed a swift kick and he gave it to me. I am here today due to his skills and ability. He made sure my times in the hospital was understood by me. Yeah jis office visits can run slow, but he see's everyone and when I needed an emergency appointment, he got me in. Any waiting I ever did there was well worth when i needed him without notice

The wait for the doctor in the examining room is way too long. I've been in 4 times and the wait has been 30 minutes to over an hour. They get you out of the waiting room close to on time, but then you wait in the examining room forever.
