Dr. Scott M. Rickert, MD

Dr. Rickert took care of our 6 year old son in April, who took care of his tonsils, adenoids and ear tube placement. We are so thankful and grateful to Dr. Rickert and his entire team for the care that was provided to my son. For YEARS, our son became extremely ill, even sicknesses such as a common virus would turn into weeks of being sick on and off with many hospitalization due to “croupy” cough that led to trouble breathing. No other physician was able to correctly diagnose and treat him. We saw multiple ENTs and “specialists”, and were in and out of the hospital countless times with no answers. Thankfully, our NYU pulmonologist suggested seeing Dr. Rickert and we couldn’t be happier that we did. After reading his reviews we decided to make an appointment. Dr. Rickert is truly an expert in this field and he was able to immediately identify our sons diagnosis and treatment plan. We scheduled a surgery appointment for June and we’re told to call if there were an issues prior to… our date. Unfortunately my son was hospitalized again so we called the office and they accommodated him immediately due to the severity of his illness. The staff at his office were excellent. They answer promptly and communicate with you. Dr. Rickert has the best bed side manner, and treats his patients as if they were his own. He explained every detail in depth and explained what to expect pre and post procedure. The staff at NYU made my son (as well as me and my husband) so comfortable the day of surgery. They were all so knowledgeable and kind - you cannot find better care (I am a Registered Nurse and was so impressed with the care from every person we can in contact with). The surgery was a complete success. My son had a great recovery with barely any pain or discomfort and now he can enjoy being a kid again. Thank you Dr. Rickert & your wonderful team. We are forever grateful.

Dr. Rickert is an amazing doctor with great bedside manners. He is very knowledgeable. He is always patient and takes the time to answer all our questions. My daughter did well under his care and we are blessed to have him as our daughter's doctor. Under Dr. Rickert's care, you can feel confident that he has your interest as top priority.

My children actually look forward to going to Dr Rickert. Other doctors (we have seen 6) in examining the adenoids with a tube inserted in the nose left my children terrified and screaming. Dr Rickert performed the same exam and my children remained calm and trusting. This demonstrated to me that his technique is gentle and quick. He is patient and kind with kids. My son had surgery and Dr Rickert's explanations were clear, his response to my questions were respectful, and he listened well. This is a rare thing for surgeons in general . His philosophy for surgery is to be as uninvasive as possible. His knowledge and skill in new surgical techniques (shaved adenoids and ear tubes) is more up-to-date and uninvasive then the surgery that was proposed to us by previous doctors. Dr Rickert has a stellar staff supporting the children . When we arrived for surgery there was a family specialist there who made a fun game out of the gas mask used in surgery; she showed my son how to dip the… gas mask into bubble solution and blow bubbles as a way of teaching him not to be afraid of it and very importantly how to take deep breaths in the gas mask which are necessary at the beginning of surgery. They allowed me to accompany my son into the surgery room until the anesthesia put him to sleep so at no time was my son alone or afraid. In addition, his billing office made the whole process very easy and they themselves took on the responsibility of all the paperwork and phone calls to the insurance company and I had nothing to do. At home my children talk about Dr Rickert as though he were family friend whom they enjoy visiting. I recommend him most highly!

My son is now 1 years old. Dr. Rickert has been seeing my son since he was 2 months old. My son had immature breathing and acid reflux. I found Dr. Rickert to be very patient and compassionate to both my son and I. He knew exactly how to help my son and I felt o could really trust his opinion and advice. Dr. Rickert is very personal and was always there to listen to my fears and questions. He is very knowledgeable physician and I always recommend him to my friends. I wish there were more Doctors as caring and thorow as Dr. Rickert. I feel blessed to be in such good hands. Thanks for everything Dr. Rickert! You are number 1!

Dr Rickert is a great doctor. He really knows his stuff really well. He checked my ears and there was fluid so he told me to use Flonase. He did a nasal swab as well. I was just disappointed that he has never returned a phone call . I have been trying to reach him for 2 weeks about results of a nasal swab he did and he hasn't returned my calls. Turns out I had some bacterial infection which my GP explained to me. I understand that doctor's are very busy but he could have called me with the results.

I highly recommend Dr Rickert and his staff at NYU Medical Center. the friendly, compassionate and confident demeanor that Dr Rickert exudes made for happy 1 1/2 year old patient and Mommy. At first sight dr rickert saw the need for tubes to be placed in my daughters ears. we got an appointment for the surgery very soon after the consultation, due to dr rickerts consideration of my daughters ear drum ruptures and anaphylactic tendencies, hence she was on medication for ear infection incessantly. i had been taking my daughter to our pediatrician 3x a before the surgery and surprisingly was at the pediatrician three weeks later, not due to ear complication. the surgery was an incredible relief. my daughter allowed herself to be hugged by her grandparents for the first time, began talking so much and is a happier todder after the surgery. the experience we had the nyu hospital for the surgery was unreal. i was able to work for a half a day after the surgery, as was my husband. dr rickert… greeted us and spoke to us before the surgery and immediately after, leaving us so calm and confident that our daughter will be ok. the setup for the children's waiting room was optimal. it was like a playroom where the nurses did the initial vitals and my daughter was anxiety free. we were efficiently escorted to the operating room where i was able to cam my daughter until the anesthesia set in. the nurses that took care of my daughter after the surgery were comforting, looking out to make us comfortable and safe, and incredibly attuned to our needs. i sat down with my daughter as she was coming out of the anesthesia and in a second a nurse placed a warm blanket under my arm to support my arm that my daughter was leaning on. THE EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE BEFORE DURING AND AFTER THE PROCEDURE MADE FOR SMOOTH AND QUICK RECOVERY FOR MY DAUGHTER AND US, HER PARENTS. A week after the surgery found us back with the most incredible dr rickert. his staff fit us in the schedule as my daughter had leaking fluid from one ear. calmy dr rickert explained what was going on and perform a procedure right then, vacuumed out the fluid without my fearful daughter crying. we have been BH had no problems since then. may all those who come under dr rickerts care be as pleased as we are.

Dr. Rickert took care of my 22 month old son's tongue tie. It was a VERY easy surgery and recovery. Dr. Rickert couldn't have made us more comfortable about the whole thing. Dr. Rickert also handled my oldest son's tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. Again, he went above and beyond. During my son's recovery at home, I had a concern and Dr. Rickert returned my phone call right away and gave me great reassurance. We really couldn't have been happier with him and will 100% recommend him to anyone who needs an ENT. Not to mention, he works with a great team at NYU. It's an excellent hospital.
