Dr. Scott Varnes Riddell, MD

Our children have been seeing Dr. Riddell for more than 12 years. Dr. Riddell is not a doctor that writes prescriptions willy-nilly for antibiotics. Case in point: one of our children suffered from recurring ear infections. After a few bouts of infection (and I mean just a few) with appropriate use of antibiotics, we were referred to a specialist and our child was given tubes. He is very thoughtful and very thorough. He is a wonderful pediatrician.

I would not recommend this doctor. All last winter, he put my son on antibiotic after antibiotic after antibiotic refusing to evaluate the possible need for tubes. He stated that he didn't want to send him to a specialist until the winter was over. REALLY! Then when we moved into our new home, we had to have the gas turned on. The gas company said that they couldn't get to it for a couple of days due to their schedule, but if we could get a note signed stating that it is a medical necessity that our child have gas then they would come out right away. Dr. Riddell refused stating that he didn't feel that temperature makes a child sick. I say that if a child is already sick and can't bathe or sleep in a warm room, it is a medical necessity. Now, I won't say that this is entirely his fault due to the fact that the gas company should have better policies regarding this, but he is certainly not the kind of doctor I want to see my son!

My son has been a patient of Dr. Riddell's for 11 years. Dr. Riddell is caring, good with children, and thorough. I have been very pleased with him and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a pediatrician.
