Dr. Scott Paul Spendlove, DO

I was on face down on the table, pants down waiting for Dr. Spendlove to do procedure on my back. He came in with another young man. Dr, Spendlove said he was from advertising and was going to watch the procedure. (didn't ask, he told me) I said no, he needs to leave. Dr. Spendlove was very angry at me, saying how is he going to learn? (Really? someone from advertising?) I was nervous waiting for the procedure and his yelling (not talking loud, yelling) at me made it worse. I said it would be different if he were a doctor, Dr. Spendlove said (still really angry) that it's about advertising. I said I thought you were here to help people. He said it's about money, advertising. when he left the room I told the nurse-it really makes him mad to be told no. On other visits Dr. Spendlove would come in the room, tell me what he was going to do, then leave. I have not had a good office visit, and the procedure was even worse.

He is young and in perfect health. Looks like he has never done a hard days work in his life. Can not relate to blue collar people who have worn their bodies out from working hard. Has no empathy. Said I shouldn’t need pain medication and that my issues were in my head. Funny how my orthopedic surgeon disagrees and acknowledges severe arthritis throughout my body. I can only hope one day Dr. Spendlove develops arthritis so he will understand how wrong he is. Run away.

Dr. Spendlove gave me answers to many questions when other doctors recommended a research clinic as a last ditch effort and others said that there are some things that medicine can't explain, without trying very hard. He gave me hope for a better quality of life, made a plan to execute when no other doctors had looked further than medications and PT (which does have a lot of value). He encouraged me to keep faith in mindfulness, meditation, and other CBT, DBT skills and an exercise approach that I had nearly given up on. He told me to keep going when I was feeling defeated. He was authentic, did not coddle me, was very straight forward, reminded me that I do have responsibility and room to make a difference in my wellness, when I had begun to doubt my strength. He explained things about my conditions that helped me understand why I had run into the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual obstacles in my illness and grief process that I had trouble overcoming, and how to… approach those with a more successful outcome. Dr. Spendlove clearly has an intricate understanding of the human body and psyche and is ambitious enough to use that knowledge to change pain management and to subsequently change lives.

I did not have a very good experience with Dr Spendlove. He was arrogant, condescending, and dismissive. He lacks the compassion to be working in pain management. Very dismissive of my pain, implied it’s from anxiety. Not very nice

I am forever grateful to Dr Spendlove. I have been miserable from several car accidents in my teen years that resulted in a lot of pain. At 53 (2017) I had spinal fusion for stenosis so that I could get the implant. It has made so much difference in my life! I was on fentanyl patches for over 20 years and I’m now off of them. I take very little medication for pain now.

Dr Spend love is a terrible physician.

I am very pleased with Pinnacle Pain. The receptionist greets me by name when I walk in, and the staff has always been friendly and professional towards me. I drive 3 hours one way from North Spokane for all my appointments because I couldn't find a local doctor that was doing the same treatments Pinnacle was offering me. They have always been very accommodating because of my commute. Fortunately, they are opening an office in Spokane soon, so I won't have to drive so far for follow-ups with Dr Spendlove. I have been in several auto accidents in my childhood and early teens, resulting in irreparable damage and osteoarthritis, in addition to scoliosis in my cervical/thoracic spine and fibromyalgia diagnosed at 21. I have tried 20+ years of nerve blocks, facet injections, ablations, countless pain meds, a C4-6 donor bone fusion in 1996, etc., etc., etc., all with no worthwhile results. I first consulted with Dr Dechter, who determined I may be a candidate for the spinal… cord stimulator, then saw Dr SpendLove, who I appreciate very much for his honesty and willingness to listen and help find the best treatment for me personally. They do not manage my pain meds, because my Spokane doctor does. Because of stenosis and spinal cord impingement, Dr SpendLove recommended a great surgeon, Dr Janmeet Sahota in Richland, to do a cervical reconstruction in March 2017, so now I have C3-T1 fused with donor bone and titanium, which enabled me to have the stimulator implant. I received the Boston Scientific spinal cord stimulator on 12/22/17 by Dr SpendLove, and I am already having improved results with it at two weeks post op. They have worked well with my insurance, and were very diligent at getting my surgery done before the end of the year because my deductible was already met. I am very impressed with this group of doctors and staff, and always felt my health was important. We have determined a path to free me from long term opiate use, and I am now free from Fentenyl patches, which I was on for about 20 years, and am now weaning off Dilaudid also. I highly recommend this office to anyone with serious chronic spinal pain issues. I don't understand the negative reviews, but everyone has different problems, and I have been dealing with pain for so long, I am pretty patient when it comes to new doctors and procedures. I hope others have a great experience like I have.
