Dr. Scott Alan Wade, MD

I would leave a zero if I could. I'm a senior veteran and had a surgical procedure by Dr wade. He and his staff believe that everyone responds to this particular procedure exactly the same and should not experience any undue pain from it. I followed the instructions that they gave me to relieve my pain and it was not relieved. They treated me like I was a drug addict and med seeking. I WAS med seeking but just to get relief for the pain, not to get high. As a retired nurse I know that pain is subjective and you can't treat every patient the same, but that is how Dr Wade and his office treated me. I would not use the surgeon if you want prompt response to your problem or any empathy or sympathy.

Just have to say, again. Dr Wade went out of his way to make sure I was ok. He took biopsy of my liver and told was something wrong. Sending me on to some one who does that. He has a heart of gold. One great person, he tells you the way it is and does not sugar coat anything. When I called there, I got to speak right to his personal nurse. She took the time to help me with all my fears. She answered all my questons and if did not know, she went and found out. Why on earth would you go to anyone else. They are a very helpful staff. I am very thankful they are in my corner. God bless them!!

Been 2nd day, all he said has happen. Have not had follow up yet. I'm so pleased!! Still sore, but very happy!! He says can't cure everything- but he comes pretty close. St joseph hospital don't care what people say, I think you're the best. I even used the cancer center here. Believe me, dr. Gupta, dr. Long and you dr. Wade, are very honest caring people. You are special in my book!!!! God bless your wonderful staffs, too. Just good people

I had been seeing a Heartland Surgeon(Dr. Wade). After four weeks I had told him that something was wrong with the leg that had been infected for a month or more, I saw him on a Wed. He just brushed it off. That weekend my leg busted open spewing a greenish yellow slime. Saturday evening when I could no longer stand the pain I went to the ED. When I arrived at the ED I was in desperate pain. The ED doctor came in, looked at it, and asked me what I wanted her to do about it. I told her it had ripped open I was out of my pain meds and I needed something for pain. She left and a few minutes later another nurse came in and took a picture of my leg with out my permission. I asked her if it was a new policy or something because I had never heard of anyone doing that before. She commented that it was just to document what I was being treated for. I would still like to know what happened to that picture it was invasive and embarrassing.( The wound being VERY high up on my inner left thigh, so… high in fact that I could not wear underwear. The nurse came in about 30 mins later looked at me and said " You are not getting anything for pain." I went off, I demanded to see a patient advocate, I demanded to be drug tested, I told them to just give me lidocaine to numb it. The head nurse come in and asked me what the issue was and I showed her the four inch long two inch deep gaping wound on my thigh and told her that was what was wrong. I was furious that I was being treated like a druggie. I was so ticked off when they came back to offer me pain meds I refused it, taking only the ladocain home, it is a liquid that only works for short periods of time ( 20 minutes at the most) and can only be used twice a day, it also damages open wounds. I suffered through it rather than being labeled a drug seeker. Turns out that my surgeon, that I had been seeing for weeks, had not kept his notes updated. They thought I was lying and yes even called me a liar stating that the wound had not ripped after I told them it had. The Surgeon,( Dr. Wade) when I went for my appointment the following week said " It was my fault, I didn't update my notes, sorry about that." What good did that do? DOCTORS, LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS!!! When the thigh was almost healed he scheduled me for a colon re-section. ( Guess I just like punishment) I was under a narcotic drip for 48 hours. For that 48 hours I was left on my back ( Lucky my husband stayed by my side and can attest to that fact) When Dr. Wade order the drip removed I of course woke up 48 hours later in extreme pain. ( Documented back problems for two years) No one had bothered to turned me, moved me, or tried to get me up in any way. I developed severe life threatening breathing problems among other things because of this. When I woke both arms were paralysed from shoulder to finger tip. My husband repeatedly demanded answers, demanded to speak to a doctor asked for another doctor. We were told (threatened) that I would have to be transferred to another hospital, because no doctor there would touch me if we "fired" Dr. Wade. We told the nurses, told the head nurse in charge that I had been left on my back for two days and my arms were numb.The head nurse called us both liars, because she had " documents saying I had been turned properly" Glad my husband was there. I was not touched for 48 hours by anyone trying to turn me.We waited about two days for Doctor Wade to show up and give us an explanation. By the time he finally showed up my arms were recovering feeling, took about a week to regain total use of them again. All this time he had me on a pump you have to press a button to operate, AND I COULDN'T press the button because I couldn't move my arms! I begged for pain medication! BEGGED. They kept saying to press the button and I couldn't! By this time I am in tears they are trying to get me up and telling me I have to help them and I can't move my arms! They keep ignoring the fact that I can't move them and help them, they finally gave up. My arms hung like two dead things. We demanded to see a neurologist to no avail. The pump they had me on was also faulty, it kept calling them in saying I pushed the button too many times. I couldn't move my arms, how could I press the button? As a matter of fact it was not even on the bed or in my hand but hung out of reach on the pump it's self. Finally the nurse stood there and watched it go off by it's self three different times. Did she offer an apology? No. When the Dr. Wade, did come in almost 48 hours after I woke up my hands and arms were recovering. I found out later that in the records it stated he had examined me on the 5th, the day I woke up. And found nothing wrong, which was a complete and utter lie and document tampering. It caused me issues with my back doctor who of course is not going to take my word over the surgeon's.( As a side note, while going for labs I was given someone else's paper work, not once but twice, my husband was with me, we of course turned it back in when we realized what had happened.) I have finally switched hospitals, and doctors. I drive 20 more minutes to a different hospital and an hour to see a specialist about my back just to avoid heartland, I suggest anyone considering this hospital or doctor do the same.

THOROUGH AND PROFESSIONAL AT THE SAME TIME. SEEMED TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE ENTIRE HOSPITAL STAY AND WAS GOOD ADVOCATE FOR THE PT.
