Dr. Scott Ross Weisberg, MD

fter our, now daughter, shared her feelings about her journey in transitioning from a male to female, my ex-husband and I met with Dr. Weisberg to ask questions, learn, and understand the transitioning process. Based on all the negative reviews posted about him online, I was VERY apprehensive about our meeting. Our meeting was the complete opposite of all the negative things I read about him. Dr. Weisberg was very professional, respectful, knowledgeable, honest, understanding, and compassionate. He throughly explained the process and welcomed any questions or concerns we had. He spent as much time as needed to ensure that our questions were answered and our minds were at ease. You could truly tell that his heart was into the work he does! I walked out of that clinic knowing that my child was in good hands! After the appointment, I realized that the majority of those negative comments probably came from one or all of the following: A.) A scorned ex-wife trying to sabotage his reputation… and career. B.) Former patients who weren’t told what they WANTED to hear... but instead what they NEEDED to hear for the sake of their health and safety. Which is what a devoted patient advocate is supposed to do. C.) Friends of the scorned ex-wife being accomplices in their friend’s libel defamation of character. Which by the way is legally considered a tort (civil wrong). So.... let’s just say.... Don’t believe everything said or written about medical professionals. Some of the BEST doctors I’ve ever had as a patient, a mother, and had the privilege to work along side as a nurse... have had the worst things said and written about them. Always judge for YOURSELF!

Dr. Weisberg can be a little abrasive in his manner, but he clearly cares a lot about making sure his patients are healthy and are happy with their medications. On my first visit, he was very thorough when going over my personal and medical background, and made sure I understood the pros and cons of each medication option. Would definitely recommend.

He is a great doctor! He knows what he is doing. I am a FTM with some abnormal genetic issues and he is knowledgeable on what needs to be done to get and keep my levels normal!

Those six words should be taken to heart. I had an appointment at 10:15 and I didn’t see him until 11:05. Let me also say that there were only two other patients waiting and they were seeing different doctors. So unless one of their patients was having a heart attack I should not have waited 50 minutes just to get in. Not only that but after talking to one of his henchmen who looked in on me I’ve been waiting for roughly 30 minutes just to get my prescription and leave. Let’s also just say I came to the office at 9:50 and will be leaving at 11:50 so 2 hours of my time wasted. Lets just say that unless you want to wait for hours just to see a doctor who isn’t busy come here. If you want to deal with a rude and sassy man then come here. When I go to the doctor I want to see someone that will actually help me out and not someone who doesn’t care for his own patients.

Dr. Weisberg is a knowledgeable physician who seems to have the best interest of his patients at heart. The initial visit was a very thorough consultation lasting an hour going over a head to toe history. He puts you at ease and makes it easy to open up about all areas of care. He works with you to ensure that you can meet your financial obligations and not have to worry about your healthcare being shorted. It's nice to see a Doctor in Alabama who treats Trans people with dignity and respect and understand our journey is individual. As a side note: Harming the Doctors reputation about personal stuff in his life you may know about is not kosher. It has nothing to do with his ability to be a doctor nor his treatment as a patient. Those types of reviews should never be published or approved.

After my experiences with Weisberg, the only reason I continue to use him for hormones is because he is the only option in Alabama. Because of this, he gets away with treating patients horribly. He judges his patients when they answer his questions (face palming and smirking at them) and his staff in general is less friendly than DMV employees. If you have a 10 am appointment and get there at 9:45 to check in, you should still expect to wait until at least 11 to be called back. He also takes personal phone calls during appointments, while he's sitting in the room right in front of you. Weisberg takes vacations almost every other week and it's very hard to get an appointment. This is not how any office, let alone an LGBT clinic, should be run.

Dr. Scott Weisberg is a complete and utter idiot. First of all, I don't know what medical college would give him a medical degree. 2) his staff is ok, but they are inappropriate and laughing at other patients, while in rooms. 3) he works about 12 hours a week, so it's impossible to get an appointment with him. 4) I don't like seeing nurses and not the dr and that is what the Magic City Wellness does. 5) He has a terrible bedside manner, is rude, obnoxious, uses poor grammar, spoke to me in a derogatory manner and gave me 2 mins to talk before he took a phone call on his cell phone and never came back. 6) the nurse had to get me finished or I wouldn't have gotten what I had come in for. I went there because they specialize in the LGBTQ community, but I'd rather go to urgent care or the ER in the future!

Worst managed practice ever.....don't even consider going there. You'll get stuck with unanswered calls, missed appointments, wrong prescriptions.... Just horrible. It's very sad because i enjoyed the Dr., but everything else is intolerable. Switching to another Dr.

I can never get a referal or even a call back.

Better off seeing a real doctor. Has students doing his job.
