My experience at KC Orthopedic Institute, and with my surgeon Dr. Scott Wingerter, were exceptional. My choice to see Dr. Wingerter initially was based upon his educational background/training, time in private practice, and association with KCOA. Dr. Wingerter is a skilled and talented surgeon, in addition to be a good communicator, and I recommend him without hesitation. The care I got from the nurses and staff at KCOI were the best I could have hoped for. The nurses responded immediately to anything I asked for and were kind and caring. The patient to nurse ratio, low infection rate compared to other area hospitals, and location in Leawood were my main reasons for choosing to have my surgery at KCOI. Dr. Wingerter is patient and informative, answering my many questions, but left the ultimate decision for hip replacement surgery to me. I never felt any pressure or felt that I was being “sold on” having surgery. In my situation, the choice for surgery was a possible solution for pain… that might be associated with my back, more so than the “classic” groin pain that Dr. Wingerter was confident could be resolved with hip replacement. As I write this review, I am 11 weeks postop and pleased with the results. My symptoms, including occasional groin pain (that I haven’t had since the surgery) have resolved, and all others improved greatly. I understand that it could take many months to see the full benefit of hip replacement so I’m hopeful for more improvement as I continue physical therapy. I am a huge believer in physical therapy and feel that it’s necessary to get the full value from hip replacement so don’t cheat yourself out of that, do the PT.

Dr Wingerter performed a total right hip replacement for me, and I couldn't be happier with the results! He takes time to listen and answer questions, he is highly skilled, and he is very pleasant to work with. Add to that a wonderful, caring and efficient staff and you have an unbeatable team! He did a revision On a 22-year-old knee replacement that nobody wanted to do. Surgery Has been wonderful.

Did bilateral on both mine and wife’s knees. Lifestyles improved dramatically. His post op care was great as he prescribed a ROM bike to use for 3 weeks.

Both my knees were bone on bone and I had been to two doctors prior to finding Dr. Wingerter. They both helped me but neither fixed the problems. I was kind of afraid to do the replacement because I thought it would hurt a lot. I had very little pain and a fast and complete recovery on both surgeries. I rate his entire staff a 5 PLUS.

Dr Wingerter could not of done a better job when he completed a complete right hip replacement. I would recommend this doctor to anyone who needs this surgery.

I went to Dr Wingerter to discuss options regarding my long time ailing knee and to get an injection for pain relief. He reviewed the x-rays and spent time going over potential next steps. He was patient and thorough and provided me with the answers I needed for future care and decision making. This was my first visit with him and I was glad I had the opportunity to find someone who showed the concern and professionalism he did.

Dr W did a total hip replacement for me. He and his staff are great, fixed a really significant problem that I had. After seeing him the first appointment I had total confidence in him.
