Efficient and to the point

Today I went to City MD with flu-like symptoms in the height of coronavirus. I called the CDC Hotline and called the clinic ahead of time to talk about my symptoms and whether I should come in for a test or not. According to the NY state hotline, I had the right combination of symptoms that would qualify me for a test. Upon arriving, Dr. Halligan basically said my symptoms were not severe enough for a test and he was incredibly condescending about how I would be taking the test away from someone who "really needed it". I restated my position that I had done the appropriate research before coming in and wasting his time; he proceeded to say, "you're not wasting my time, you're maybe wasting yours". He wasn't comforting or reassuring in what has been a very stressful and anxious time in NYC. His bedside manner is atrocious and left me feeling like I was crazy for having concerns about the shortness of my breath, fever, and cough during a pandemic. He said it was probably the flu, but… did not test me for the flu which would have eased my concerns about having the coronavirus. I hope clinics stop hiring this person because he is incapable of providing comforting care.

Echoing reviews about poor, condescending, and accusatory bedside manner. I saw this physician at a CityMD for a routine physical. He mansplained to me that I should be seeing a GYN for this as all women need is a GYN. He also went off on a tangent about how you don't have to like your doctor. You just need to have one. Very telling, since it's clear patients don't like him, and for good reason. I left feeling judged and discarded. A health practitioner should have an air of care and concern for patients, not irritation and disgust. Shame on him.

Doctor Sean Halligan was very kind and professional

Had no issues with Dr. Halligan. He saw me quickly, ordered x-Rays, diagnosed a pneumonia and had my prescriptions sent right to the pharmacy. No issues with bedside manner - he was courteous, spent time hearing my medical history and hopefully I am on the mend.

I was looking up this doctor after a terrible experience and was shocked to read the previous review from February. I just had a very similar experience with this doctor. I went to an urgent care and he was the doctor who was assigned. Terrible bedside manners and he too pretty much accused me for taking a strong medication (although these were prescribed by my SURGEON to deal with pain from TWO (2!!!) consecutive surgeries I underwent about 10 days ago)  I left the clinic feeling confused and anxious. The complete opposite of how you should be feeling after a doctor's appointment.

This doc has terrible bedside manners. Possibly even had his DEA license suspended since when I needed a cough suppressant for a bronchitis that was lingering for over 3 weeks, he said that he cannot prescribe the medication since it contains small amount of codeine and when I asked him why, he pretty much accused me of being a junky/drug addict. When I asked him what is his treatment decision based on and whether a chest x-ray would be a good idea to confirm that my wheezing for weeks as not developing into a pneumonia, he pretty much dismissed my concerns. Stay away from him and any CityMD location where he practices!!!
