Dr. Sean Patrick Harbison, MD

I experienced significant, chronic and persistent pain after minor, elective surgery performed by Dr Harbison. While still in pain, he refused to refer me to a specialist months after the procedure he performed. I had to seek out other physicians to help me address this problem. It is hard to understand how Dr. Harbison rates four stars on this site. Check other websites for more objective reviews.

Dr. Harbison performed laparoscopic robotic surgery to repair what he described as a minor inguinal hernia in October 2021. More than 18 months later, I continue to experience pain as a result of this procedure despite being pain free prior to the operation. During appointments following my surgery, Dr. Harbison refused my requests for tests to determine what was causing this pain and instead insisted it would eventually go away. After I repeatedly requested treatment, he referred me to the hospital's pain management group. They determined their services would not be appropriate for post operative pain. After several months of inaction by Dr. Harbison I independently sought treatment from specialists that confirmed the pain was caused by the circumstances related to the surgery. I am currently undergoing weekly physical therapy. This has somewhat alleviated my pain as a result of weekly in-hospital visits with my therapist and several hours daily home therapy. As a result of… the surgery performed by Dr. Harbison, I cannot resume any moderate physical activity. In addition, it is still possible that I may require further surgery since physical therapy may not ultimately correct my condition.

If he feels you are not on his level as a co-worker. He will not even say hi if you speak to him as if he's above you .A total snob ..

My friend had extensive surgery at Penn with Dr. Harbison. The Doctor was annoyed when her husband called to say she was throwing up blood because they released her prematurely. She was then rushed to a neighboring hospital. From there she was transferred back to Penn where her leg bloated from an apparent blood clot. She had to wait 3 days before they did an ultrasound to find out why her leg was 3 times the normal size. The husband then called Dr. Harbison again because she had not yet had the test for a blood clot. The husband was reprimanded by the Dr.Harbison for calling for the second emergency. Therefore, I would not recommend this doctor. Beware of doctors with poor bedside manners and are negligent in their care of your loved ones...

Dr. Harbison performed surgery on me several times with exceptional results. I trust him.
